- @EA_Aljo No, this is a wide issue that needs to be looked into. Happening for me also on Series S.
- @EA_Aljo Confirming that this doesn't help. It's definitely software related.
- @budkin Same thing happened on Call of Duty and it took a month to fix so I'm not holding my breath for this game, just start the game, get a coffee or beer and come back I guess.
@EA_Aljo Have exactly the same problem on my spanking new XBox X.
Could it be server related or is it just a lack of maintenance seeing that the game is no longer supported?- EA_Aljo5 years ago

Those servers are still up and running with players on them so I'm not seeing any issues on our end currently. Do you have the game installed on an internal or external hard drive?
- @EA_Aljo I've done this several times. I've also totally re-downloaded the game. I've had load times over 5 minutes. The OP describes what is happening to me exactly. (wired Xbox Series X)

Let's see if alternate DNS settings will help. From the Xbox One screen, go to Settings > Network > Advanced settings > DNS settings > Manual. (If Settings doesn't appear on the home screen, select My Games & Apps, then Settings). From there, enter the Primary DNS as "208.67.222.222" and the Secondary DNS as "208.67.220.220". If that doesn't help, try using the google DNS servers which are: primary alt number 8.8.8.8 - secondary alt number 8.8.4.4. Let me know how it goes. Thank you.
I also have an Xbox One X and the game loads on it as it always has.
I will try that and get back to you with what happens. Thanks for the attention!

Sounds good. Just get back to me when you can.
I just ran those 2 servers you specified, plus I timed default login times. All 3 are within a couple seconds of 4 minutes loading time.
As first mentioned by the OP, when I first got the Series X, the game loaded very quickly. Estimate...1 minute or less. None of my other games are having this issue.

Thanks for trying. Do you have the game installed on an internal or external hard drive?
Just for comparison/perspective, I just loaded notoriously slow loading GTA V in under 2 minutes.
All my games are on the internal default drive.
Hard drive is also almost 50% free, so a full hd is not an issue.

Do you have an external drive also by chance? It would be interesting to see if there's a difference. This is a pretty odd issue.
I don't own the dedicated HD expansion device. I do own external SSD's that I use on the older Xbox's. I never hooked up the latter to the Series X, as they say the games won't run from it. (would have to be moved to the internal to run)

Have you tried a factory reset on your console? If not, would be willing to try it?
I can see where that would be a test, but gosh, setting all that up again would be a major pita.

I haven't done this yet on a Series X, but it wasn't that bad on an Xbox One. I believe you can reset without having to lose a lot of settings or installed apps. Would you be able to give this a shot? It's a pretty odd issue and I'm running out of ideas here. You could also try contacting an advisor to see if they have any suggestions. If you want to do that, try contacting @EAHelp through Twitter or open a case with a live support advisor.
You can contact EA Help via the EA Help website. Detailed instructions on how to use the EA Help service can be found here. I would imagine that a reset would (at least temporarily) fix the problem, but without knowing why it happened the first time, it's very possible that two weeks from now it will be doing it again. This is the only game, out of the 25 I have installed, that is giving this problem.
Frankly, I don't want to do that reset. It says I can keep my installed apps & games, but I'd lose everything else. If it becomes more of an issue, then maybe I'll tackle it then. Atm, it's just an irritation.
Thanks for trying to fix this for me.

I haven't lost any data so far with doing factory resets. I have had to apply some settings again though. Regardless, if I hear of any other possible resolutions for this, I'll update this thread.
THANKS @EA_Aljo for getting back to me. I am using the original GW2 DVD on XBox X's DVD drive- EA_Aljo5 years ago

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, we haven't been able to find a resolution to this. It would be good to see if factory resetting your console will resolve this. If you don't mind trying that, let me know what happens. Otherwise, at this time, we're not aware of a way to return the load times to what they originally were.
Again thanks @EA_Aljo. To be honest I think I'll live with it, as factory re-setting my XBox will cause bit of a pain in having to reload everything (games, settings, and what have you). I can live with a 4 minute wait. As long as I can play the game, that's the main thing.
- @PerniciousPea That's where we ended up with it. We just got used to the load time for that specific game. Not ideal, but whatever.
