Hello and thanks for reaching out again! I’d be happy to lend a hand and offer some guidance on what may be occurring. I appreciate you adding that you’re playing Pogo on a PC using Chrome 😊
There have been a few updates to Merge Academy lately and as you and many other players know, this is not a game developed or created by EA Pogo, therefore the process takes a joint venture between multiple companies when occurrences happen. I gave both the main game and Coral Secrets a try today, and I haven't run into any lag problems so far. However, I completely understand that the performance issues you're dealing with are genuine concerns that definitely deserve attention.
Here are a few things to look into:
Chrome Update
Google Chrome released a major update (version 156.0.8078.42) just yesterday, October 20, 2026. This included 247 security fixes and 4 critical patches. When Chrome pushes an update this large, it can sometimes affect how browser-based games perform until everything settles in. Make sure your Chrome is fully updated by going to the three dots menu > Help > About Google Chrome.
Graphics Drivers
If you are using a Windows PC and not getting graphics driver updates from the manufacturer and waiting for Windows to release it on your device, this can also play a factor, Windows does not always have the latest graphic driver updates, more on that here → Pogo Graphics Guide - Windows Users | EA Forums
So, when we are gaming on any browser-based gaming site the keys for a smooth performance are: Device Updates, Browser Updates, Graphics Driver Updates, Modem/Router Internet Updates and cleaning along the way. With updates it can change the configuration on our devices so its always a good idea to double check extensions and make sure the Hardware Acceleration is ON in your browser (updates can turn this off automatically). You can check this in Chrome by going to Settings > System > Use graphics acceleration when available.
Cleaning
Clear the temporary files stored on your computer, not just your browser's cookies and cache. Temporary files generated by applications, updates, downloads, and other system processes can accumulate over time and consume a significant amount of storage space. Removing these files may help improve overall system performance. You can find a video on YouTube for "how to clean junk files on my device". It really does help a lot, and I personally use all the troubleshooting and maintenance procedures I discuss on my own devices.
As a side note, Google Chrome by some is considered a "memory hog" due to its significant consumption of system resources (online user statements). To optimize available system resources during gaming sessions, close any unnecessary browser tabs and applications running in the background.
Also, I created a post about how updates have changed → Pogo Players: Browsers Are Changing — What You Need to Know | EA Forums Remember very software update can leave behind temporary files, old logs, rollback data, or outdated components that consume storage over time.
If you continue to have an issue after performing troubleshooting steps,, please visit the Pogo – Official EA Help support page and scroll down to the Contact Us button to open a case or submit concerns through the Formal Submittal page.
I'm hoping this helps you and other readers who may be facing a similar challenge. Take Care and I wish you the best!
