I like the slower and more deliberate transition skating, as you’re not meant to get crazy air from every ramp. You have to pump deliberately around obstacles to build speed before getting big air off a ramp, which feels more realistic, rewarding, and fun to me.
That said, there are definite issues with vert. For whatever reason, pumping doesn’t seem to work properly on ramps that reach 90 degrees, meaning it’s a struggle to reach the lip with enough momentum to air unless you start big and ride that momentum from the off. It’s pretty much the biggest gameplay complaint around here.
