Gameplay fun, Optimization TERRIBLE

I spent about 3-4 hours getting this game to behave with my CPU because I love the skate series and refused to not play it because it was initially making my CPU constantly under load at 100c. I have a decent gaming rig, RTX 3070 Ti, i7-13700k, 3200 mhz 32gb DDR4, 240mm AIO on CPU. I literally had to go into my bios and change the PL1 and PL2 on my CPU from 240W to 125W and turn off Intel Adaptive Boost Technology. This still did not fix the issue, this game has serious FPS uncapped leakage as if you tab out of the game it will override and FPS settings you tried to cap it at in NVIDIA control panel and go back to uncapped. The only way to fix this was to use RTSS and set the game hard capped to 60 fps, with vsync on in the NVIDIA control panel to get rid of any screen tearing. After doing all of this I was finally able to get stable CPU temps with occasional peaks of 95c. Something needs to be fixed with the FPS in this game as it will eat up your CPU if not manually overridden using RTSS

  • this is a local machine issue, not a game issue. I also have a worse config than you and haven't dropped a single frame on ultra. change your overclock settings back to default

wrong wrong wrong. I looked into this issue long ago from modding Skyrim which pushed my system to the max on a regular basis (and it still runs perfectly fine, btw). newer Intel CPUs are perfectly capable and designed to run at their max temp for their entire lifespan. you are regurgitating a popular myth by overly paranoid wannabe tech geniuses. so long as you don't exceed the manufacturer's max CPU temp you're perfectly fine and it's perfectly normal while running a relatively demanding game with a high power CPU that creates a lot of heat to function. now since you guys won't believe me, let me quote the Intel manufacturer directly:

"Is it bad if my processor frequently approaches or reaches its maximum temperature?

Not necessarily. Many Intel® processors make use of Intel® Turbo Boost Technology, which allows them to operate at very high frequency for a short amount of time. When the processor is operating at or near its maximum frequency it's possible for the temperature to climb very rapidly and quickly reach its maximum temperature. In sustained workloads, it's possible the processor will operate at or near its maximum temperature limit. Being at maximum temperature while running a workload isn't necessarily cause for concern. Intel processors constantly monitor their temperature and can very rapidly adjust their frequency and power consumption to prevent overheating and damage."

Read it and weep, lil bro.

well I quoted Intel directly to prove them wrong, so I'll see if they still wanna do mental gymnastics.

LMAO the same company that had to issue multiple BIOS updates for their 13th and 14th gen CPUs  because their microcode was causing Vmin shift instability, CPUs dying, and improper voltages. Don't believe everything a company says little buddy, most of them lie to save face and maximize profit, you would know that if you actually stepped outside of your gaming room, yikes.

The 13th and 14th gen Intel CPUs are rated for 100c max, but those are for just brief spikes. Running at those temps constantly and not just random spikes will degrade the silicon faster and cause other parts around your CPU/what is cooling your CPU to degrade faster, learn the facts little buddy. My motherboard literally had the red CPU light on from this game because of that, not a good sign. You are on a GTX 1070, a GPU almost 10 years old and a CPU from 2017, you are lucky to even hit 60 fps on all low settings, maybe upgrade your Rig to this decade lmaoooo. Dude is talking about knowing CPU temps when his rig doesn't even hit the minimum requirements for the actual game.

I don't have any overclocks. The issue was without messing with some settings this game leaves FPS unlocked which eats up CPU power. I am currently playing with all settings on Ultra and have FPS locked to 100 using RTSS, getting stable temps now

maximum mental gymnastics. intel knows more about their CPUs than you. don't believe everything you read on reddit lil bro. like I said in the beginning, you are not the tech genius you think you are. by the way, my "2017" CPU has been pushed to the limit with heavily modded games for years and still runs perfectly, so your little overheating theory is complete nonsense, lmao. Skate runs perfectly for me on default settings with my old hardware. this is a clear cut case of you breaking the game by modifying settings you don't understand. your game breaking is just reality humbling you, but of course you project the blame onto EA cause that relieves the cognitive dissonance. now go reread what Intel said and do a factory reset on your PC + the game.

I never claimed your CPU was overheating from the game you narcissistic self validating weirdo. Upgrade your PC brokeboi. I didn't modify or break the game, what? You just ramble on about nonsense and can't even provide good counter-points to the main argument, you are a waste of time talking to
