From the reading done on the forums by many, it does seem that some form of lighting as you are mentioning has gone into this event. To what extent? I do not know completely but they have always mentioned in patch notes and other kind of reliquary, antiquated writing that most would not read on, they have mentioned it.
The developer's kind of put themselves in a bind on the timelines here with both events kind of taking up all the rest of the year to hesh out really. Mainly speaking a game in early access like this would have to only have even somewhat the other bullets happening maybe next summer. That might even be heavy speech, but it seems it is noted that they are not going to be going back to old styles of skate enthusiasm that you speak of, which could be very unfortunately the kind of last hoorah for skate tm franchises.
Hype could come back but as for now not speaking from the development side, testing really is a lot to due with very small improvements. Hopefully you find something in the pass lol Cheers GLhf KF
