Skate Ideas, and Appreciation :-)

Hey,

I filled out the survey, but here's some more specificity of what I actually enjoy about the game, along with suggestions for game improvements. I'm hoping someone from the development team finds this.  Thanks for reading, I hope this resonates with others who play the game...

Suggestions:

  1. Incorporate skill points/attributes, i.e. technical versus vert skating/transition skating, etc.
  2. Level-up in the style of Fallout, where you can pick special items/tricks, etc., from a menu
  3. Since you can get going pretty fast, space out some of the lines where there's one rail or stair set after another, allowing for more time to setup for another trick.
  4. Allow sticker size/rotation/placement options on your board.  As a skater I never place stickers directly on the nose, tail, middle of my board as it causes your board to stick when you nose/tail/board/lipslide, etc.
  5. Allow clothing size/bagginess to be modified for each clothing item.
  6. Take "body flips" out of any street-oriented line, as a trick requirement.
  7. For the grind transitioning, i.e. rotating from a 5-0 to a crooked grind or something similar, make it more precise instead of just rotating around all over the place.  This function, though, I really like and am glad it's incorporated into the game, it just needs to be refined.
  8. For "Window Shopping" challenge, make the highlighted manual area sloped downhill so you are able to gain/maintain speed to be able to clear the stairs.
  9. For "Flip Out" challenge, please remove the body flip.
  10. For "Change of Pacer" challenge, please add more space between the kinked rails/stair sets.
  11. Same for "Making the News."
  12. Incorporate difficulty levels where once you play all missions on regular, you can level-up and try to beat challenges on tougher settings.
  13. Incorporate real life Pros somehow, or let me skate as a Pro.  Please :)
  14. Enable picture upload/face capture where you can skate as yourself in the game.
  15. I know this is far out there for probability, but design real life skate spots from videos.  Downtown LA, Chicago, New York, Portland, etc. I understand that vert has to be in a park, to a degree, but I don't want to skate a street skatepark in a video game.  I want to go hit up Hollywood High, the spots I see online that I dream of being able to skate (if I were anywhere near that good obviously).  Even segmenting this game to different cities would be insanely good.
  16. For difficulty, consider adding cops, security guards, douchey people who try to mess with you while you're skating, etc.
  17. Add in a storyline for coming up in the ranks.  Sponsor-me video creation, riding for a small shop before being sponsored by big companies, and then stuff like making your own board, shoes, etc., when you go pro.

What I like:

  1. Game mechanics, ease of playability.  I haven't played another skate game where you could really just pick up and play the game.  Tony Hawk's Pro Skater maybe, but that game is too over-the-top for me to really enjoy playing it.
  2. Even though I would not/have not done a Slappy in real life, I actually like it in the game because in real life I would never just flat-out run into a curb; it makes for a smoother incorporation of the experience of roaming the streets, especially since my eye-sight isn't always the best at picking up what in the game is a curb and what is just a color variation on the road/sidewalk imagery.
  3. As stated above, the transitioning into and out of a grind is great, I like that you can pop out of a grind!
  4. For the over-the-top, ridiculous-ish challenges, my favorite one is where you have to Christ Air through the skylight.  It's obsurd, but at least it's fun to try to get it right.
  5. For a ridiculous challenge, I also like "Flip With a View."
  6. My absolute favorites, to name a few are as follows:
    • Know the Ledges
    • The B-Line & the C-Line ... oddly enough it's the ledge at the very first stair set that I like skating because it's harder to lock in every time, like it's just out of reach to nail different flip-in variations.  That's what keeps me coming back.
    • Haul Most Butt is great for the ledges and obstacles that are set up, it's long distanc and makes for great lines :)
    • Ledge Lord
    • Waxed Gardens
    • Truck Tester
    • Grave Ridings
    • Marquee Line
    • Wall-Carver (the speed is great for trying to thread the needle)
    • Don't Look Down
    • Foliage Flicker
    • Deep Bench
    • Cut the Corner
    • Just Passing Through
    • Salmon Run
    • Gettin' Tubular
    • Gap Out
    • Upper Lowers
    • The Headline

Again, thanks for reading this.  Overall, I love this game even with its problems.  I am grateful to all of the time and effort that has been poured into this iteration of Skate. i will still never stop playing this game

:-)

Also, my favorite two challenge spots currently are “The Legendary” and “Tasty Sliders”
