Some Ideas from a long time fan & actual skater

Hey EA team,

First off, I want to say that the new Skate game is genuinely fun. You’ve nailed the atmosphere and the overall design. The city looks beautiful, and the feel of riding around is honestly fantastic. The audio design is amazing too, just the sound of the board on different surfaces is super satisfying. Plus, the challenges are fun and the core gameplay feels like it has a lot of potential.

That said, there are a few big issues that are making the game frustrating. One of the major ones is the character customization. It feels really out of place to have these cartoonish, almost Fortnite style characters in a world that looks so realistic and beautiful. It just doesn’t fit the vibe that the previous games had, where there was at least a hint of realism. The characters don’t feel like they belong in this world.

Another big issue is the lack of a real storyline. Just giving us a tour around the city isn’t a compelling narrative. We want the pros, we want the classic skate brands, we want that real skate culture that used to be at the heart of the series. Right now, it feels like we’re missing all of that and instead getting a kind of generic, future leaning theme that doesn’t really resonate with actual skaters.

Also, the heavy reliance on micro transactions is a huge letdown. We’d rather pay for a full game upfront than have to deal with grinding endlessly or paying real money just to get basic customization options. Micro transactions should be for fun extras, not the core experience.

Lastly, there are a few bugs. Sometimes friends disappear during challenges, sometimes session marker prompts get stuck on the screen, and sometimes the session marker glitches out and spawns you under the map. None of these are game breaking all the time, but they’re pretty frustrating. In short, the game has so much potential, but it absolutely needs the pros and the real skate brands. EA is a huge company, and honestly, the skate community would love to see that authentic culture brought back in. Spend the money to bring in the pros. Some of them might even be thrilled to be part of it just because they care about the scene. Add the real skate brands, add those underground companies, and give us that genuine skate culture that we’re all here for. Without it, the game’s going to feel like a letdown to the very community you’re trying to cater to. Also, as a final note, the whole AI filmer thing feels out of touch. Just make V a real character, like Shingo’s daughter or something, so we keep that human element. The authenticity of having real skaters and real personalities is what makes Skate special.
