Game Launches but am unable to join friends or see their status.

So I'm running through Linux using protonGE 9-15 (I think) and I'm able to boot the game fine and join public matches but when I try to see my friends and join them I am unable to see them, also when I try to open the EA social overlay it shows that it was unable to connect to the servers despite me clearly being able to connect to the servers to play online. The hardware is a steam deck lcd and the game is running from a 512GB Samsung or San disk Micro SD card, not sure if it's important but thought I would include it. If attachments are necessary I can post them.
