Have you tried a different display cable and port on the monitor and graphics card?
While I don't think its an overlay issue, you may want to turn them off while you're troubleshooting.

I'm playing via Steam, but then it also loads the EA client. Is there a way to disable at least the EA overlay?
My video card only has one HDMI port as does the monitor. The other ports look more like rectangles, and I don't have a cable to fit this.
It's never happened on any other game since I bought the computer in 2023,, and I game all the time....

Open EA app. Click the hamburger in the upper left. Then Settings -> Application -> In-game overlay.
You should disable all overlays, not just EA app's.
Try a different video cable.
BTW - "it doesn't happen on other games" has little merit with video games. Numerous times in my past an issue didn't occur with other games, but was still an issue with compatibility on my system.
