But tennis isn't divisional. It's a season long race. I'm not anti 3v3 sure I don't like it much, but when it gets going I actually quite enjoy it. I just don't think it's right to form the divisions using 5v5 then change it to 3v3.
So a counter counter analogy:
All season long the tennis players have been on clay. Then for the final end of season tournament they change it to grass. However, the seeding is done on the season so far. So the best grass players won't be going, just all the best clay courters....
