After trying to place high in this tournament, I've officially given up with them, for good.

I'm pretty sure there are fewer shards now than in the earlier tournaments.

4 hours to spend 70K? took me about an hour to burn through 350k

Those tournaments are a waste of time. Just need to play the last 30 minutes... I was 40 yesterday and when i got up this morning, 1600. Of course, cannot play during the day so I will end the tournament at the end.

What is your complaint exactly? 70k AP is something that vapourises in 20 minutes for last hours before end.
You gotta have 500k and more if you want to be top 100

Not necessarily true. I spent 250k in the Jyn tourney and finished top 100.

But the tournaments are pretty awful. I have no interest at all in the current one or the next one (especially since the next one is for a platform exclusive ship and I have the wrong platform). Might be interested in the Vader ship one. The second Jyn is a waste, since finishing top 100 again won't get me a 5*.

Tournaments are terrible. Pretty simple. Worst part of the current game - and it's not even close. They are a time-sink that doesn't even reward that. They are completely based on the luck of what shard you happen to end up in and defensive teams don't mean anything. You have a good defensive team? So what? People will just avoid you and attack the dope who has Rey lead and 10k less power (yes, I saw this yesterday...in the top 200 no less).

The last hour, heck the last 20 mins are where you spend the most (per min).

2 things to keep in mind, start time matters. It's a gamble like everything else. A later start can land you in a new grouping or at the bottom of the last one opened. But an early start only lands you in a group that will be pushing the numbers higher for longer. I wouldn't be surprised if the tournaments get shorter again, 24 hours seems nice but 8-12 would yield the same results. The longer ones were to make sure people burned the AC before they came down to the length they want.

Second, never make your push that early. Examine the playing field and make the call if you are going to commit. Use all you b,c,and d teams to get the best rank you can. Then b and a and mix in a cheap placeholder where you can, and burn through all or your committed amount in the last 3 hours, but spread them out. You will be disappointed if you blow your wad and everyone passes you anyway. Gotta save for the last 20 mins. And plan to drop about 20 places.

This auction some not very smart person called 'tournament' is ridiculous. Real hard work and great frustration in the end, unless you are whale and has 500k ally points...
They really should reconcider whole mechanics of it.
