I've come to realize that dodge is either broken or rigged in ships. I can't play a single battle without seeing any ship dodge at least once. If it's Tie Fighter, forget it. I've had an AI Tie Fighte...

Funnilly enough, it may be the RNG itself. In a class we make a simple FF-style text battle game that is literally just RNG, but in 3 years, the AI has an 100% win rate. That's at least 6 groups coming through, 15-20 or so people per, so in some 100+ programs and multiple plays, has literally never lost once. Either that, or the one day was a fluke and the ones running the lab lied.
