Am I understanding Delta....?

I want to make sure I sm understanding relic delta....here is what i am taking from it...

I can buy a delta to bypass relicing so I can beat those who worked to get teams at a high relic mark. Thus meaning I dont have to get my relics as high.   But...players below my relic levels can buy a delta to beat the teams I worked hard to level up.

If this is indeed what they are saying....then why would I spend any time or money to level up my relics? Get to relic 3-5 and just buy deltas!

If this correct it seems like the easy way out to make us buy more.  Instead of trying to come up with better stats or actions that happen with the higher relics.

Am I understanding correctly?

  • From what I've seen of the comments under the latest blogpost, nobody who's come out with a blanket "**** you, I hate relic delta" understands relic delta at all. I read the new blogpost carefully and I don't recall anything about "buying a delta". It sounds like you both didn't understand what was said and are using terminology that makes it difficult to understand what you mean to say.

  • No, “relic delta” is just the name of the system, not an additional item. What it will do is scale your damage dealt/received depending on the relic level difference between the toons. So if you are a relic 3 attacking a relic 9 you will do significantly less damage (66% as of now), and the inverse of that, if you are a relic 9 attacking a relic 3 you will do significantly more damage (200% as of now).

Here, the Greek letter Delta (Δ) is being used to denote "difference" in the same manner it is used in some sciences and mathematics.  It is not an upgrade like omegas, zetas, or omicrons (also Greek letters). It simply means the difference between an attacker's and defender's relic levels.

You are not buying anything new to bypass relic levels; it is meant to make the (high) relic levels you invested in more worthwhile. You presumably might have more incentive now to buy those relic levels which already existed.

You might be getting confused because they said new characters will skip relics and gear--we won't know what they mean by this until it is released, but my guess is new marquees will come with lightspeed tokens. But this is to free up relic resources for older characters, as relics will be more important than ever.
