Another credit crunch thread...

TL;DR refer to title.

I'm patient for shards, i'm patient for grinding insane amounts of gear at low drop rates but I cannot be patient any further than that and especially for something as mundane as credits.
The credit shortage has changed this game completely for me.

This use to be a game of collecting toons, gearing them up and trying them out, having fun with Star Wars characters.
It's now a game of waiting 2 days to throw your credits at a toon or two.
I cannot remember the last time I was actually excited to unlock someone, I just leave them flashing to activate at the bottom because I know it will take me weeks and weeks to make useable and I'd have to give up practically everything else or they would end up like 70% of my unlocked toons, 330 shards or more, probably every piece of gear until VIII and collecting dust.

Sure I understand they don't want everyone to get every toon in a month, but a new toon now and then would be fun, after all, what is the game about?

I don't mind a grind, but It's a lot more satisfying to craft a piece of gear you've put effort into than to wait for the GW reset everyday and do 12 matches that can take some folks an hour or more to do in order to level up one toon from 79-80 and maybe craft a piece of gear if you've been grinding for a week or two for that single item.

There is no fun in "grinding" credits.
In fact it's practically impossible to grind credits.
It's just a waiting game.
What do you do? Refresh a ton?
You may as well just buy a credit pack because you get such an insignificant amount for your energy.
GW is the only source of decent credits and arguably the most boring and time consuming content in the game and you only get one chance every 24hrs.

The bronze cards are ridiculous, I've been getting exactly the same rewards since I started playing. It is so outdated its inexcusable. We should be getting 5/10/15k from those. We should be getting semi-usable gear. Why do I need my 951st green/blue piece at level 80? I can't afford to level any new toons anyway.

I cannot think of another game I've played where I don't get more gold for completing quests/missions etc at higher levels or against higher levels. It's basic gaming logic, increase cost, increase income but at a slower ratio.

Surely these guys can get some financial brain box in to sort out the economy? Surely there is a balance that would allow progression at a satisfying pace and still give an incentive for people who buy credits that allows them to progress faster in a meaningful way without allowing access to all content within a month.

If you didn't play before the Feb patch I think it was It might not hurt as much, but for those who were able to sell gear, do key card battles and had to level 60-70 would know there is a credit crunch and that it was artificially created to stop progression, it was just way too heavy handed.

To get 5 toons from 79-80 can take 2.5 days or longer without spending a single credit on anything else, no omegas, no gear, no levels, no stars.
Now if you hadn't played this game and I told you that, would you want to play?

Don't get me wrong I don't want every toon now, but seeing new toons as a waste of credits and an impossibility simply cannot be healthy for the game.

Surely we should be able to enjoy a little more of the hard work the design and development teams have put into all these awesome characters?

About 2 weeks ago I was on a sever credit crunch, but now that I am about 1 day away from level 80 i find myself with 4M plus credits... I haven't been doing anything differently and still have a decent amount of characters to bring up to 79 and eventually 80, but i figure what else is the level cap for but to catch up. Give it some time and you will probably be ok...

4million credits will be gone very quickly.
I've been 80 for a few weeks now and you'll see it's coming, you will be blocked from any progression because you'll be broke in a day.

So you are saying that you can't progress to end game in a day? Good.
  • I agree the shortage of credits is frustrating and i highly doubt it has any possitive sides for both players and developers.

I don`t believe with the current prices anyone is buying credits with crystals ... players prefer to wait and get them for free. So no big income for developers from there. If you have enough credits to level up your characters and reach level to meet the end game gear requirement - players will be spending crystals for refreshesh to farm the gear and most likely will spent more crystals to buy the gear from shipment for crystals - this way developers will get more money.

There is no logic into increasing level cap, and leveling credit prices, but keep the credit income same as before . Leveling a char from 1 to 70 costed about 2 mil credits when the income was about 800 k per day. Now leveling a character from 1 to 80 costs about 4.5 mil credits and you still have the same income of 800 per day...

How to fix this ? Simple - GW rewards should scale with the current player level - on level 70 keep the rewards the same , but for level 80 they should be doubled. It is the most time consuming aspect of the game , its difficulty is increased as we level up , so the rewards should be increased too.

In every game when you level up and gear up a character you are able to easier, faster and better farm money and gear. In this game it is non of the above!

Arena is the other really challenging aspect of the game and as time consuming as the GW. Maybe increase the credit rewards there too and we will all be happy.

As I look at the giant pile of unspent GW tokens that keeps piling up an idea occurs to me. What if an option was added to spend them on credit packs?

Just as you can spend nearly a whole days worth of arena tokens on a single purple ability mat (a ludicrously exorbitant price, but whatever) maybe we could spend a full days worth of GW tokens on a 250k credit pack. That's enough for about one level for one toon in the high 70s. You would have to give up the fastest source of shard farming in the entire game for it, and it would still take me weeks, if not a month or 2 at the level cap just to catch up, but at least I could catch up eventually. And I wouldn't have to keep looking at the growing pile of useless shards, and tokens I can't use due to credits. It isn't a greedy request for an instant easy button, but it gives us the option to slow down on new toon farming, and focus more on strengthening the 7* toons we have already. And it comes at a significant sacrifice. I can't imagine it would be that big of a chore to add. New players wouldn't use it, but they aren't strapped for credits the same way. For those who have 7-8 toons at max shards from GW already it gives us a choice of what to do with the currency we earned, but can't use. Thoughts?

Why don't you spend your GW tokens on the shard shop if you have nothing to do :)

I don't need more shards thanks. I need credits to go with the shards I have.

Then wait till tomorrow and you will have 600-800k more credits depending on arena rank and raid status :)
  • If you just need more credits do profit mining. At level 80 you get at least 10K a time, and up to 30K. I do those a lot and it really helps me out. Do it ten times and you get at least 100K. You can easily do it ten times or so a day. Then in ten days you have enough credits to 7 star a character. Also if you really need credits spend your crystal on getting credits. You could probably get around 300K a day if you did this with the profit mining.
