Arena is now ridiculous

Yup. Same with fleet. Miss a stun or ITF dodges you might as well forfeit.

It's an arena. Players battle each other. That's the nature of that game mode.

They don't actually battle each other though. PvAI is worlds of difference.

Sounds like you need a better team. You can't be upset if people are investing more into their arena teams than you are. If you want advice on how to improve then ask and share your SWGOH. No use in complaining.

But at no point are two players engaged in the same battle i.e. PVP, which is very different than playing vs an AI algorithm.

If you really prioritize building an arena squad, it’ll make a huge difference. Right when JTR came out, I decided I wanted to hop on board that meta. Once I had the gear, mods, and zetas in place, I was finishing in the top 50, whereas before I rarely cracked the top 200.

In the meantime, I’m still running JTR, and haven’t invested anything in keeping up with emerging metas. Lo and behold, my arena rank has slipped to where I need a little luck to finish in the top 100. There are lots of ways to invest your resources in this game besides arena, and that’s what I’ve been doing. I’m content with that. At some point, a new meta-defining character that interests me will come out (I’m waiting, Jedi Knight Luke!), and when one does, I’ll adjust my priorities.

Anyway, you can move up in arena if you dedicate the resources to it. It just means less resources for legendary farms, etc.

So true. I used to run EP/Vader. Everyone ran EP/Vader, and I started slipping due to weaker mods. So I switched to Rex. Did OK, but still struggled vs the top teams. With the release of Chewie I switched again, and these days I hover right around 20 (curse you Revan). An improvement of 30-40 spots on average.
