Can you please walk us through your reasoning to put profundity in the trash?

I am unable to understand the reasoning behind throwing profundity into the trash the way CG did by releasing P1.

How is it working as intended if a 5 star executor and 3 star P1 take out a fully upgraded Profundity?

It is ok to make mistakes, but doubling down on it instead of fixing it is not the right attitude. Profundity is an expensive ship with high relics requirements. Folks spend enormous amount of time, money and resources into building their rosters, just to realize something they pursued for months as a meta becomes worthless over night!

I can understand if a 7 star executor with a 7 star P1 gets 50% win rate against Profundity. But low star exec beating full star profundity almost 100% of the time makes absolutely no sense.

If you shake up things so badly that nothing makes any sense anymore you will eventually lose participation.

  • It's not complicated.  Profundity is an older fleet; it's not designed to compete with Leviathan, which is the meta so there's not a reason to prop it up artificially.  It still beats everything below Executor and Levi; so it's not useless, just not tied for 2nd anymore.

Complaining about it is like complaining why CLS can't beat GL's just because you've farmed CLS.

It's not complicated.  Executor is an older fleet; it shouldn't be designed to destroy the newer Profundity fleet, which should be part of the meta so there's not a reason to prop it up artificially.  It still beats everything including competing against Levi; so it's not useless, just not tied for 2nd anymore.

Complaining about it is like complaining why Gungans can't beat Ewoks just because you've farmed something that was newer and more expensive.

See I can do it too!

The issue is that Profundity (A newer, more expensive top tier fleet than Executor) was removed from the top tier over night without any reason or explanation.
The reason people are complaining is that you don't expect something cheaper and older to reasonably be expected to not only outperform but completely invalidate your progression.  People's entire farming strategy is based on the expectation of some reasonable stability.  Chaos like this causes frustration and the feeling of loss of progression. The complete opposite of what hero collection games are all about.  People are supposed to feel that constant forward movement to keep them engaged and invested.

No one should be saying that they wanted their Profundity to be the best, no one should be saying it should wipe the floor with Executor.
New fleets should usually do better than old fleets.  You're seeing people upset because they put a lot of time, effort, and in many cases, money into something that is now a terrible investment that in its current state, I bet people will now avoid farming.

      Welcome to paper/scissors/flop.

Your arguments are very consistent with where I am at with this game right now.  Thank you.

Yeah, as far as GL Ships go (for lack of a better term)

Executor was first (i.e. now the oldest), Profundity second (the middle child), and Leviathan last (the new baby - still).

I can see bumping up exec to prof level, but not more. And from other stuff i've seen posted, 3 PI should not be outdoing 7 PI, that's just poor coding/planning.

Because "New Shiny!"  Even at 3-stars, "new shiny!" beats R7, R8, R9 piloted ships and capital ship because that's what CG deems as important.

As was speculated, they will probably release Red 5 or Luthen's ship to go with the rebel fleet which will counteract PO in some way, so we'll need to spend money, time, and resources on that ship so profundity isn't garbage.  But it'll be a while for that to show up.

  • I only just got  profundity to 7star 4 weeks ago after hoarding 21k in purples in a month so I could get in the top in my shard , set up a discord for the shard , only to have my time & effort flushed down the drain if I knew that was going to happen I would have farmed executor over Profundity I’m utterly pissed off with CG wasted my time ,effort and patience A BIG FU CG

How is it a waste when you'd need all three ships eventually anyway...

  • It is literally hilarious to me that CG decided the best way to handle an unintentionally OP release of a ship that absolutely obliterates profundity, is to make the only other meta fleet in the game more likely to also be unbeatable with profundity.

CG, what in the world is this attempt at creating fleet balance? For once, things were nearly perfect, where everything had a place and a use and a reason to chase, and with a single release and a series of poor decisions, you have thrown basically the whole fleet ecosystem into the trash in favor of making money on a single ship.

All you have done, is shown why nobody should spend money on ships in this game, when you repeatedly do stuff to completely screw the balance and playability of them. This isn't a small change, Punishing One quite literally beats everything in the fleet world right now, and rather than nerf it, you just screw players who invested heavily in an actually expensive fleet, even harder

  • My guess is it’s a little more effective than intended, it was stated to improve exec counter to profundity which was pure RNG on if RC survived, but I do agree I exepected to need 7 star ships. There are also more consistent off meta fleet counters for both exec and levi so profundity still has value. I do think targeting profundity was inevitable.

Why I think they will not change it… Profundity still counters Levi, they have weakened the ship to executor, now they can sell an uplifter of its own.. It’s probably the next ship to be released. We have seen meta’s evolve like this before. I trust they will balance it again.

The only players I have mass sympathy for are new players who are perhaps not used to this, and feel their first big unlock is lower value. Profundity was released the month after I unlocked executor.  Veteran players know how it feels to have something released which de-values or reduces the prominence of your recent unlock. But we also know that things tend to be rebalanced and the profundity will remain a useful investment. Players with all 3 ships are still more challenging than a player with just exec and Levi.

Why would you expect it to be 7* P1? It is normally abilities more than stats that "shake" things up.

It was same thing for a long long time with character units (before g13 and relics) rarity meant nothing.

Well that was along time ago now… and simply it makes more sense to lock utility behind 7 star to sell the shards and not disturb the current meta so dramatically.

  • This is coming from the perspective from one who has being playing for 10 months. CG is stuck right now. The game isn't making as much money as they used to, so they are throwing everything at the wall and see what sticks. SWGOH is losing gamers because they can't get them to stay in the game. It seems daunting how much work it takes to build up to have a decent roster (not talking about an end-game roster, just a decent one). Enter LSB's. It's a money maker and it helps newer gamers like me "catch up". I think that really bumped their money a lot, but I don't think it was a wise decision in the long run. Really, the revamp of the new player experience was probably the best thing they've done to help new players. But with all these LSB's and changes, it's starting to hurt the end gamers.

I won't deny the LSB's progressed my roster ALOT over 10 months. Now I'm at 6 million GP and I'm starting to get to the other side. When a new LSB comes out, there's a chance I already farmed those characters. I also spent a lot amount of time (and money) rushing to get Executor. If within the next few months an existing cap ship gets an upgrade and counters my Exec, I would be very upset. I can't only imagine how it feels for those who farmed Profundity and Levi and see the P1 come out and wreck your ships that you most likely spent well over a year farming.

  • Great Question.

The only answer I can think of is they REALLY wanted all those that were about to Open Leviathan tomorrow to not bother spending crystals to upgrade it?
I really can't figure out what they were thinking making it as powerful as they did.

I am really glad that they added a starfighter in the game to a faction that was sitting at 5 ships.
It might have been better to go with one of the factions sitting at 9 for 2 Cap Ships instead, but, either way adding starfighters is good.

The execution on the other hand is lacking.
Not testing against the current meta is well, actually that is totally CG & expected at this point.   (How sad is that?)

Hopefully given Meatheads question about future ships we will see some more come out over the next year.
I know I'd love to see a good 10-20 starfighters get released so we can get back to 6-7 per cap ship instead of 4-5.

  • Well before the p1 was released I was regularly getting the top spot with just a 4s exe and a g10-g12 rc.... And I still see profundities climb to the top 5 in my shard... So I'd say it's working partially as intended.... I don't think the mirror matches is fair tho.... P1 should be exempt or immune of the stealth steal...

And yes my 4s exe sitting at 360-380mil was beating 500mil+ profundities regularly

  • Just cause it has a counter, doesn't mean it's bad. By that measure Executor is trash cause FO can (still) beat it.

You can't be serious? People aren't annoyed that Profundity has a counter. It has always been countered by literally everything. The day it released, it was counterable with the fleet it was supposed to be the counter to

People are annoyed because it no longer is even able to win on offense against almost anything else in the fleet meta. Your comparison is horrible and isn't even comparable
