I really don't get all the fuzz. I played it manually - won both tiers first try.
Today I did the following 5 times in a row:
Tier 1: Target Chewbacca and hit auto.
Tier 2: Hit auto.
Maybe you can get bad RNG and have this fail, but I haven't seen it yet...
