Colisseum - Working as intended?

Yes, another complaint regarding Colisseum and the poorly considered design of enemy units and oh so horrible release of un-synergized Era units (this time we even got one without a leadership ability! Great job CG!).

No but in all seriousness if a medical doctor would be as poor as you guys doing his job he would be a mass mur*****.

See screenshots, specifically the ability "Bloodthirsty Crew".

"Whenever an enemy resists a debuff from Pirate AT-ST or evades Pirate AT-ST's attack, Pirate AT-ST gains 25% turn meter"

Now I get it, you need to make it as hard as possible so the leeching free to play players don't get any of the good stuff -- but WHY does the debuff BLIND trigger this ability? If the AT-ST gets the blind debuff and misses his AoE attack he gets 100% turn meter? I understand Forsight buff on the player, I understand natural evade mechanics and why they would trigger this ability BUT how is it that the game mode is set up in such a manner that it does not benefit the player AT all in ANY aspects of the event -- even if you get lucky enough to actually LAND a  DEBUFF on the enemy --- can I call it a debuff? I'm confused, the debuff is to the AT-ST a benefit so we would need to rephrase it and call it simply a buff.

I mean seriously enough is enough. This anniversary Era has been an utter failure, the inconsistencies, the lack of coherent synergy, the lack of imagination to the point that once more (referring to Datacrons for example) you just created a TEMPORARY currency that becomes obselete and useless in between minor  insignificant and boring events.

Do better CG.

  • I’m almost impressed by you trying to cover your back by automatically calling the people who may genuinely be trying to be helpful by clearing up a misunderstanding “forum pets.”

But Blind means the attack didn’t land - AKA, it was evaded. It doesn’t matter whether it’s on your end or theirs. The attack missed.

The real problem with the ATST is how it can use an ability, they are no resists or evades, but it still gains 100% TM somehow.

You are right with the forum - pets part, I will remove it, I was insanely annoyed when this happened to me and I ended up getting insta-gibbed. My apologies if I caused any offense.

But I do not agree with you regarding the interpretation in this case, the enemy is debuffed and blinded - are you evading the attack or is he simply missing? If there is no line that can be drawn where it is a question if you actively evade or dodge an attack versus the enemy missing the attack due to being blinded, there is no real point then in calling it a debuff 😂 would you be filled with pride and say you dodged and evade the fists of fury of an enraged and blinded prime Mike Tyson? No he simply just missed 😂

But I get it though, but I still feel it's stupid nontheless - Thanks for the slap on my hands too, appreciate it

  • All good, I’ve lost track of how many angry posts I’ve made.

As for the mechanics, I once again bring in Order Of Operations. To the game, it doesn’t matter whether the opponent misses or you evade - the debuff doesn’t stick either way, so while the “attack” may have missed as opposed to being dodged, the “debuff” was indeed evaded by default. The confusion here seems to stem from active vs passive evading, yes?

  • Not sure if it helps, but there are circumstances where blind can be helpful against the AT-ST.

Kleya’s first special applies a debuff (Undermine) that means the enemy unit can’t gain bonus turn meter. If you can line it up so that she applies this either just before or just after to the AT-ST being blinded, the next attack will miss and no TM will be gained.

  • This is, indeed, the single most annoying mechanic in coliseum. There is simply no way to protect yourself.

It's also extremely annoying that a team that beats one tier frequently can't hit 10% on the next tier. This is, of course, not always true, but it's true far too often.

Yes active vs passive evading or evasion due to buffs, character abilities or leadership abilities/team synergy.

I don't think, personally, that when you apply a debuff forcing the enemy to miss his next attack, that it should towards them evading the attack and not simply the enemy missing the attack.

Inherent dodge chance (RJT, Hondo etc), Foresight buff etc I completely agree with and understand - but when you apply a debuff forcing the enemy to miss an attack, that is not evading in my book ^^

I don't know if I can properly put it down on paper - if you are older like myself and you played WoW Classic; the rogue class has the evasion ability and when he dodges a warrior that triggers the Overpower proc, an ability especially designed for the dodgy classes.

I know the games aren't at all similar but imagine if the warrior could just proc the ability at any given moment, when the rogue dodges him, when he himself misses an attack, when a bird flies close by his head.

This mechanic for the AT-ST triggers automatically when you have Forsight, (possibly damage immunity too?), when you dodge inherently but is also designed in such a manner that if your opponent stabs you in the eye and you try to hit him and miss, it also procs 🤷🏽‍♂️ that is not good design, especially in an event where you are severely limited in what characters you can use and have no way around it except skipping an ability which is not really feasible since the Overall kit of the AT-ST is designed to demllish you:

    1. Basic attack inflicts debuffs, if you have DoTs when he uses the attack he attacks again
    2. AoE ability that causes debuffs you can't resist and DoTs on the main target and if he already had certain debuffs remove turn Meter from him
    3. AoE ability number two, causes debuffs and if you have DoTs get blinded and some more debuffs are applied
    4. Then you have bloodthirsty crew ability and guess what if he damages you when you have debuffs, thats 25% offense stacking until the end of battle and if you god forbid try to evade, resist or prevent any of these DoTs he gets turn meter, at the same time as the fight progresses, he just gets stronger and takes less damage

This is my issue with this and the "if he doesn't hit you that counts as an evade" - his kit is designed to cause debuffs and capitalize on those debuffs, ergo, you would want to try and prevent that in a calculated fashion since he also has turn meter train in his kit if you do not accept the debuffs and the stacking offense. Damned if you do, Damned if you don't 🤷🏽‍♂️

  • I understand the frustration but when an attack doesn’t land it is an evaded attack. As far as the system is concerned it’s either a hit or an evade, whether it happens naturally or is forced by a buff or debuff.

I would either try to time the use of blind to when you land Undermined from Kleya which should prevent turn meter gain, or try to time it to where the second AOE is on cooldown enough that if the walker does go again it doesn’t immediately hit you with 2 AOE’s back to back. Otherwise, just forego the use of Blind, as much as that sucks.  Against that boss it’s too much of a liability.

If you pay or use crystals to level your toons to era level 95, you will score 5 million and above in Tier 8 and hardly notice the damage / dodge/ crappy design.  If you don't, welcome to gated content.  I am over simplifying, but you get what's going on.

You used a WOW analogy to describe what you'd expect to see warrior vs rogue.  Blizzard never monetized their mechanics like this.
