The main purpose of the arena is to battle one another for varying rewards based on how high you rank, is it not? Forming shard chats to organize payout winnings are for people who either can't handle fighting, have weak rosters, want things handed to them or any combination of these things. If you can't earn it repeatedly, you don't deserve to receive the top rewards repeatedly.

The point of shard chats isn't to try and scam your way into first. I am able to take 1st all day long, but I prefer not having to lose crystals taking it back from the jerk who likes to snipe 1st at other people's payouts.
I'm not saying this system isn't abused, but in 99% of the cases, you have 20 people who can take top spots. Either you can all get less and waste crystals attacking each other, or you can coordinate and not attack outside your payout. Everyone wins except EA, and isn't that the real battle?
I'm genuinely trying to see your point but I am having a tough time. This is not meant in a sarcastic way, either. If I am truly battling for a top spot in a PVP aspect of a game, why would I want to give my opponents any sort of edge? This goes back to the part I mentioned about some people not being able to handle the battling part. To me, that is why arena exists - to battle each other and earn your keep (not just have it handed over to you).
Trust me, if you work hard enough on your squad, you won't need to spend much on refreshes. Yes, you will get beat but, that goes back to my entire point. If you have to spend that much on refreshes to get back to the top spots each day, ya really don't deserve the top rewards, in my opinion. ;)
Wow, thanks for the encouragement. I'm not talking about getting back to 1st, I'm talking about swapping with the guy in 3rd ten times. For the record, I have never asked for anyone to lock a sniper at my payout, I'm just explaining the reason it's necessary to do that in the first place.
When you get at the top of arena, every team can beat each other on offense. If you haven't got to that point yet, I'm sure you will some day. Unless you have a squad that never drops out of first, in which case, please enlighten us.
Nope, just worked hard to build a squad that rarely ever drops out of top 10. Yes, I've sacrificed the progress of my HAAT squads but that is the choice I made. I choose to be more arena focused in this game as I welcome the challenge of battles. I also don't believe in having things handed to me and prefer to know that I worked for something. It's just how I was brought up. With arena payout chats, I can't say that I feel everyone has truly worked for it and I wouldn't feel that I worked for my rewards if I were to be part of one.
Like I said, we all will get beat, I do not deny that. BUT, if you've truly worked to build a good team and focused enough on your arena lineup, you shouldn't need many refreshes to easily get back to one of the upper spots easily for your payout.
Okay, I feel like you must not have a competitive shard. It can take more than a refresh just to get from 5th to 1st and stay there at some payouts. If you got lucky and are able to get back with two fights, and no one takes you back down, then you have it easy. Just be grateful for that, and realize that's why you don't have to use a shard chat.
My shard is competitive, I just enjoy the arena competition so I will hit back. If the whole arena payout chat works for you, have at it. I'm just expressing how I feel about them. Carry on with your bad self, by all means.
I personally enjoy the competition and often refresh after my payout just to fight down from 1st. That doesn't mean I feel the need to make everyone else suffer. I've already proven I can beat everyone, and I'm getting a reward.
After that it's just ego, and that's not competition, it's just annoying.
