Compensation LST mistake/issue (incorrectly labeled)

The Kyber tier LST, 7 stars, relic 6, all abilities to level 7, that we received as compensation is incorrectly labeled.

I will preface by saying that it states in a prior blog post, that standard LSTs won't give zeta materials, however, this information is old and the ingame item displays incorrect and unclear information. The ingame display should be the standard upon which you trust, not a blog post.

If you view the LST from the inventory page and go to a unit to apply it, it will show non-zeta upgrades to level 7 and if an ability has a zeta on the 7th level, will display level 6. However, if you go to a specific unit who has a level 7 zeta, such as Shin Hati, Marrok or Master Qui-Gon, it will show in the LST menu that the associated ability will go up to level 7. If you apply it, this does not happen. Not only is this incorrectly communicating what you get (you do not get the zeta and it does not communicate this), it's also simply incorrect, as it only levels that ability to 6 (despite saying and showing 7). If it correctly displayed in all menus, or clearly communicated ingame that you do not get the zeta, this wouldn't be an issue.

This is extremely misleading and for people who do not read the blogs, may well hurt them. The reality is that most players don't read the blogs, so the ingame information should accurately and correctly communicate what it gives in all menus. Regardless of the fact it shows correctly in the inventory, it does not if you go to the unit directly and press the token button at the top, which is the method many players use to assign an LST if they already know who they want it on, myself included. I see no reason to scroll the list of all eligable options in an almost any unit LST if I know who I want it on now.

Attached are 4 images showing what the LST inventory menu shows (the correct information), the unit before the LST is applied, what the LST menu inside of the unit's personal page shows (the incorrect information) and what you get.

For a compensation, for issues that aren't even fully fixed and regarding a lack of response to overwhelming player feedback, this is really dissapointing. The fact that this compensation is incorrect and misleading is almost insulting. If you're going to compensate for a mistake or failure, you should make absolutely certain that your compensation isn't a mistake by itself, like this one.

  • They have it built in to state if it will provide the zeta or not.

Some toons have abilities that don't have zetas on lvl 7, others do. It becomes too wordy to state x toons will get lvl 7 and y toons will go to lvl 6.

The clearest way to say if you will get a zeta or not, (instead of assuming cause it brings it lvl 7 you get it,) is stating this LST applies the zeta. Which they do. Could they add the line, this LST doesn't apply zetas/omi? Sure, but currently they dont, and you dont need to be on the forums to see if it will apply them.

This isn't a full failure on CG's part, this is also on the players for not looking for the "this includes zetas" on the side.

It does not say it does not provide this (which it should, because they now have LSTs that give zetas), and a player who is not familiar with LSTs may not know of the "includes..." clause if they haven't yet owned, used or experienced one of such LSTs. As noted, however, regardless of this: it incorrectly labels the upgrades given. As seen in both anniversary LSTs (where they correctly label them, including a zeta clause + icon), and in the inventory LST menu (where it correctly labels zeta-tier abilities going to 6, not 7), it is 100% possible to correctly communicate this information.

Regardless of the aforementioned, this is a failure to communicate in a clear manner, which they have proven they can 100% do exactly that (but did not, on one of their menus). This can be seen in the images attached.

This game is not a stranger to being "too wordy" and that is not an adequate excuse or justification with how new unit kits tend to be very wordy. They already do that, a few lines of extra text on appropriate units won't hurt them nor the player.

There is something else about the R6 Lst.

In the Era Store I can get for 5000currency a Lst what allows me to bring Huyang or General Syndulla up to R5.

So why cant I use the R6 Lst for one of them ?

My Plan was to use one for either General Syndulla and the other one for Huyang and now I need to invest 5000 Currency to get one ? Why are there different Characters if its worded with use with any Character ?

  • In-game it specifically says that the chosen character ability "You have no power" will be increased from 6 to 7. Even if it DID say that Zetas are not included, that is not enough - It still says you will get that ability to level 7, when it should say 6. It's a bait and switch, likely due to incompetence rather than malice.

It would be reasonable to offer compensation to anyone affected by it and to fix the misinformation screen asap. Unlikely, but reasonable.

Imagine complaining about free LST that doesn't say *includes zeta levels

It says upgrade abilities to level 7, but if level 7 is a zeta and LST doesn't include zetas, common sense would say it will stop at level 6

It doesn't, which I touched on. I agree it should pop up saying it doesn't includes zetas, but here we are.

I did the anniversary quests and got the Phoenix LST (zeta included) first before using this one, but I feel like that would be most players path as well. There was also the free ones from the webstore and the lvl 50 reward (no zetas,) from when they first dropped. So not much excuse to not have some idea how they work.

I agree its possible to correctly label it, but here we are, and players just needed to apply some critical thinking to see they wouldn't get the zeta.

IMO it is a valid reason. I dont want to open a LST and see a wall of toons that go to 7, and then another wall going to 6. Tokens need to be clean and easy to read. Again, saying this LST includes zeta is the way to do that. I'm sure in the not so distant future, it will correctly show the leveling on that screen.

Kits are absolutely fine to be wordy, cause it is defining how the different kits will interact ( looking at you Baylan)

  • Would it be better if it covered every eventuality in idiotproof language, sure, but the default for lightspeed tokens, as they have clearly stated, is that you don't get zetas, so unless the specific token states that it includes zetas you should assume that it doesn't.

By all means add it to the list of things to sort out, but I'd rather they focus on the crap which affects everybody, not just those who can't be bothered to pay attention.
