DEVS Please Fix GAC

First off, let me be clear:

  • If you are a whale
  • If you're in Aurorium or higher
  • If you have more than 6 GL

This ISN'T for you, and please keep your opinions to yourself.

Capital Games developers, can you please do something - anything about the absolutely horrendous match making in GAC?

I feel very strongly that for Carbonite, Bronzium, and Chromium matchmaking should be filtered first by GP, then GL count, and then relic count. Getting brackets looking like this is absurd (see images). Not to mention the guy with 13M GP and literally every GL shouldn't even be allowed in lower ranks to begin with. If you have an account that filled out, I don't care if you've been inactive for the last 5 years - you still belong in Aurorium so other people have a chance of fair, decent matchmaking.

If that's too difficult to implement, then make GP the very first criteria for matchmaking in the first 3 ranks. Let all the high GP players get stuck together, so lower players have a chance to grow, and have decent matches that they can enjoy.

I feel sorry for the guys at 6M GP or lower in Chromium. They're literally stuck because of this completely absurd matchmaking.

I also detest these lazy, high GP players intentionally dropping ranks for easy wins. Seriously what the heck guys?

Aurorium & Kyber I can understand not caring much about GP. Most of those guys have crazy rosters, and can counter GL without using their own more often than not. Good mods, good teams, plenty of experience.

Everyone else does not have the same capability because their rosters aren't full, or they lack experience, or a combination of both.

I have members in my guild with 1-2 GL in Carbonite who are stuck because most of their units are Gear 12 or lower, being matched with people who have 4-5 GL. Some of them don't even bother signing up for GAC anymore - both returning players and new players alike.

Seriously CG, please change matchmaking for lower ranks. The setup is horrible no matter how you look at it now that there are GL, and with new teams that make almost all original teams obsolete. Maybe it's time to think about how that affects the majority of players who aren't at the top, or even near to it...

  • Yes! This is so annoying! I have 2 million gp and no gl an my opponent has 13 million gp and every single conquest/gl character. I can’t get any points against him!

Thats going to be way to many filters for lower leagues and again kick the can down the road. We don't have access to the stats of all the accounts in any one league, but how would your proposed system handle it when theres odd numbers of matchable players? Someone is going to get screwed and have bad matchups and then complain. And how does your system handle inactive players? Also, having different rules for carb/bronz/chrom is going to make it extremely hard to get above that because everyone is going to then have differently built rosters matched by different criteria. Which means you'd then move to complaining that mid game accounts can't break into aurodium.

And how can you complain about any gac matchmaking if you don't even put garbage mods on pilots and use them in coherent fleets? Sure maybe you'd still have lost, but it at least would have given you a chance. Regardless, in the end you had a 66% win percentage vs bigger accounts that round. Seems pretty good to me.

If you quit every couple years and come back after 3-4 years then no you haven't actually played as much as me. And honestly why would CG even waste their time redesigning GAC for someone like you?

I don't think you fully read what I wrote ATM.

"Anyone pining for go based matchmaking never played under the old system or doesn't remember it and would be complaining in 6 months when a wave of focused lsb gac accounts started beating them."

"I feel very strongly that for Carbonite, Bronzium, and Chromium matchmaking should be filtered first by GP, then GL count, and then relic count. "

This wouldn't be a 1-filter setup. That was naive to begin with. When the devs first created GAC (before relic levels even existed) I could understand the thinking. But this is WAY further than that now, and using a single form of filtering players simply doesn't work anymore

My proposed idea would first group people of similar GP with each other, regardless of what's in it. Additionally it'll use the next criteria - GL. If you have 7M GP and no GL you'll be paired with someone else like you. On top of that there's the 3rd criteria - relic count.  You wanna make a GP fluff account? Go ahead. You won't be alone, and you'll be matched with other players who do the same thing. The only person you're going to hurt is yourself

"BTW, your last 5v5 you faced 3 accounts bigger than yours and won 2, and could have won the 2nd round if you used the resistance fleets together instead of random junk fleets"

Um who are you to tell me what my roster is or isn't capable of? Guess what. Most of my resistance roster doesn't have mods. Puts my entire resistance fleet at a major disadvantage.  Furthermore, what am I going to do with a pathetic capital ship with an unmodded character, with maybe 1-2 ships that actually do have decent stats, while the key ships you need to pull off something like that aren't even 5 stars.  Yet you have the audacity to act like you know better. You don't. I've been around the block probably just as long if not longer than you. There's a reason why I usually quit every couple of years and come back 3-4 years later

That's also why I said if you're in higher ranks, and you also have the roster to stay there, keep your opinion to yourself. I can already tell you've been where you're at for a good minute and you're entirely out of touch.

"I have members in my guild with 1-2 GL in Carbonite who are stuck because most of their units are Gear 12 or lower, being matched with people who have 4-5 GL."

Do you even remember what it looks like in Carbonite?

    • 1 Fleet
    • 1 Squad per platform

So you have 1 GL, your opponent has 4 (so he can wipe your whole board without trying) or just put all the GL on defense.

With your only GL and a roster that has a ton of G12 units, the absolute best you can even dream of hoping is beating 1 single team, basically for participation rewards.

There's a reason why I said this post wasn't for you, and I meant it.

  • 1 - this is an open forum so anyone can have an opinion. Yes im in k1.

All of these ideas and complaints have been discussed ad nauseum already and every solution will have issues. Anyone pining for go based matchmaking never played under the old system or doesn't remember it and would be complaining in 6 months when a wave of focused lsb gac accounts started beating them. It also encourages not advancing your account and therefore not spending which CG isnt going to go for. BTW, your last 5v5 you faced 3 accounts bigger than yours and won 2, and could have won the 2nd round if you used the resistance fleets together instead of random junk fleets.

While I agree there are issues CG isn't going to make gp floors for leagues either because then all these lazy accounts will just settle there which disincentivizes spending. Also, then everyone would be complaining again they couldnt break into say aurodium because theres a wall of big accounts sitting there. So it just moves the issue and doesn't solve it.

  • as someone in kyber

seeing some of the match ups in lower ranks is just ridiculous

    seeing 400,000 accounts fighting 8mil

  • Here's another example (see image).

You can't tell me this is even remotely to close to fair, for a player who has 2M GP and 1 GL (which is what Carbonite should be for).

And you expect me to believe match making isn't broken?
