The cat looked happier than the playerbase... Seriously, though - does the squish have any other effect than reducing the daily payout? Talking to a guildmate, he'll be staying in Kyber 2 for at least 6 days longer, because he now needs 3-0 to even make it into Kyber 1, instead of just 1 win. So that's a minimum of 100 crystals less for him. Is there anyone actually benefitting from these adjustments? Apart from the house, of course...- ccmooseNew NoviceThey posted about it last month. Unfortunately, their communication was laced with what turned out to be falsehoods and didn't have much in the way of justification for the squish.
As for squishes in general, they are not totally unheard of. I know that 538 squishes their NFL elo between each season. Obviously, there are many differences between an NFL offseason and a GAC offseason; I am not defending or advocating for the squish.
Bottom line, until CG decides to be more forthcoming with their communication (i.e. never), we just won't know what they're thinking. "Ragnarok_COTF;c-2341520" wrote:

You're right - they actually said it would happen each season:

This is however the only statement in that post that turned out to be correct. Oh, and yes - it doesn't really change the GAC "experience", as in who you play and how you play. But it does change the rewards you're earning in the process.- I dropped a lot as well after the event but assumed it was due to my performance. Your graph looks like you did fairly well. To be dropped and lose all progress for that really deserves some explanation. Unfortunately CG has gone from bad to worse in the communication department.

loss of crystals - bad
easier opponents - good!
It’s a squish so that the divisions don’t get out of whack. If it is doing what it is supposed to do, your relative position within the division should not change so it will have no effect on the opponents you face. So no, you will not have easier opponents because of the squish.- PersimiusRising TravelerThey said they would do it after each round, so there wasn't a new memo.

What does "getting out of whack" mean in this context? In my opinion, each player that wins enough battles to cross a certain threshold - set by CG - should be entitled to the earnigs that come with the corresponding division. By taking away earned points, they're keeping players from increasing their income. Which is unfair whichever way you put it."KvotheQGBQG2;c-2341515" wrote:

Wouldn't said guildmate have to wait until the GAC round is over to get promoted anyway? So if they didn't drop a league they aren't losing anything... yet... if they go 1 - 2 this round then yeah, sucks for them, but we all know the answer is git gud and win those 3.
They did post about the squish though, I do believe. Or we got an in game message or something. I knew about it, and I am rarely on the forums these days.
A Kingkiller's opinion is irrelevant, lol...
You're right - I thought there were promotions after each match. And yes, the original announcement referred to adjustments after each season.
My point about the squish affecting players' income stands however - despite claims to the opposite in the same announcement...- You just have to look at the leaderboards and see something is completely wrong as I have guys 100 rating pts above me with a lower ranking, I lost 85 pts of rating and dropped 5k in ranking while my buddy gained 88 pts and moved up 5.2k in ranking even though I have 4 more wins so far in total of all season since the change. I have no confidence left in anything CG does anymore, more bugs every release, game freezing and crashing non-stop costing many people matches and gems it just seems like this is a playground now instead of a product for CG

additional levels with higher rewards accordingly.
Pretty sure that's exactly what they are trying to avoid with the squish.
