Dynamic Difficulty Adjustment

Has there been any word from CG how much money plays a role in the game's Dynamic Difficulty Adjustment (DDA)? For those of you who don't know what DDD is, it's a patent owned by EA which increases the game's difficulty through a number of variables, in particular when you are close to completing a task. According to the patent's description money spent by a user plays a big role in determining the success of completing a task (for example finishing farming salvage for a gear piece or shards for completing a character).

MobileGamer posted an interesting video on this with a link to the patent in his video's description. I'm not sharing the links here in case that's against the forum rules.

    This is your answer.

No one is going to convince anyone of anything they dont want to believe but we have statements both here and on Reddit saying they dont use that software in this game.
  • There has been word that this isn’t used in this game. Just because they have a patent doesn’t mean they use it in this (or any) game. Carrie was quite clear about it on Reddit.

But not really any confirmation, correct?

If you don't trust the lead developer's reddit post as confirmation that they don't use it, what would make a post in your forum thread any more of a confirmation?

Correct. There is absolutely no way for us to ever know, but I don't believe Carrie would intentionally deceive us.

Also, would the acronym not be DDA?

That's correct. I edited my post. Thanks for pointing this out.

Hmm. Hopefully we can take her word for it. Some users on reddit said that she allegedly has no legal obligation to tell the truth about this matter.

What exactly would constitute confirmation in your mind?

Data on actual character and shard drop rates. If the drop rates are the same when you are close to completing a task then she is telling the truth. If they drastically differ then she isn't. It's simple to prove.

As we mentioned in the Q&A, we don't do any manual changing of odds in general. Additionally, we don't modify the drop rates of challenges from release to release.
