Emperor's Demise, Rebel Requirements, and 'Old Ben' vs 'Stormtrooper Han'

So I was looking forward to checking out this event. Bummer, the requirement for 'rebel' characters is 5 and I have only 4... out of nearly 40 characters I have. Okay, disappointed.

Then I get looking over my characters. 'Old Ben', he should be a rebel, right? I mean anyone that's seen Star Wars knows that Princess Leia called him into action on a top secret mission for the rebellion, saying "You are our only hope!" Also, he fought Vader, trained Luke, and even guided Luke to 'Use the Force' in destroying the Death Star. He was right there on the Death Star with 'farm boy' Luke, Princess Leia, and Han (in storm trooper outfit), who are all 'rebels' in Galaxy of Heroes. So 'Old Ben' must definitely be a 'rebel' too, right? Nope. WHAT?!?!

Or how about those Ewoks that helped destroy the Death Star II and bring the Empire to its knees? Rebels, right? Nope.

I get that GoH needs to have game play balance an all that, so characters can't maybe be precisely as they were in Star Wars. But really? 'Old Ben' not being a rebel is just plain dumb. Technically speaking, he was more with the rebellion than Han Solo was, who only really joined the fight against the Empire at the very last few minutes of Star Wars.

On the Ewoks, they were just defending their home.

No, they brought the attack to the Imperials. That's like saying the native scouts and warriors who fought along side English & French forces in early North American history were not actually aligned with one side or the other. Pure silliness.

Don't forget, C-3PO filled the Ewoks in on what the Empire was doing and they were made part of the Ewok tribe. The Ewoks had then joined with the rebellion.

That doesn't make the ewoks count as Rebels, that makes Luke, Leia, Han, and the droids count as ewoks.
  • I can't believe some of the trash I'm reading in this thread, if you think Ben should be classified as a rebel you need to watch the movies again.

Obi won Kenobi was a Jedi.. Is it possible to be both a Jedi and a Rebel? Solo is a scoundrel and a rebel.. Vader is a Sith and Empire.. It's a silly argument.. But it would make more sense for him to be both as opposed to one vs the other.

The issue isn't that he can't be both (luke is both), the issue is that he isn't affiliated with the Rebel Alliance.
  • Old ben was retired basically ... if he was really a rebel he could have been more involved at any time

But for practical purposes it would have been nice to use him in the EP event but at the same time, there are sufficient rebels already to complete the event
