Finally an appropriate developer response

Mod Update is actually good now. This is what the update should have been with to begin with

People complaining about how they spent a ton of credits on nerfed mods are being disingenuous. Mods are still useful, just not game-breaking. Those credits would have and still will be used on mods.

I spent a few million on mods and I'm still using those mods. But now, GW is doable, arena doesn't have teams that are built like Rancor Tier VII, and there are still incentives on using credits and energy on things other then mods.

This is the appropriate response that devs should have taken with precrafting. Hopefully we will see more responses like this in the future.

You choose to spend millions of credits on a feature of the game that was unfinalized and by any measure you received what is now still your credit's worth.

When the feature was released, it was logical and reasonable to assume it was "finalized" otherwise, why would they have released it? Your argument here doesn't hold water, I'm sorry.

Are we to assume that EVERYTHING they release in the future is "unfinalized" and therefore we should wait 2 days before doing anything with it? We were conditioned after the precrafting debacle to jump on anything immediately, before it is pulled out from under us and we're left trying to catch up for months and months. I'm not going to make that mistake again, and neither should anyone else.

They released the patch notes for the mods feature days before the patch, thus implying it's "finality". To then COMPLETELY change the feature as well as changing primary and secondary stats on Mods that are already equipped, is completely and totally unethical and irresponsible, and regardless of what else they do to mods, players deserve compensation for spending millions of credits to play within the rules as they were explained to us at the time only to have the rules changed on us AFTER we've acted.

Tell me, what would you have spent the credits on, and was the money you spent on SWGOH ever going to go anywhere else?

Seems to me like you rushed because you knew early sprinters would get an advantage like they did for the precrafting garbage, and you wanted it. Well you got the advantage it's just not as crazy advantages as precrafting was or you'd like it to be.

For starters, I have two characters on the verge of getting 7th star. Can't do that now. There's two million of it.

Maybe one of us doesn't understand the concept of a "freemium" game. Getting an advantage over other players by investing real cash is fundamental. Hell yes I thought I was going to get an advantage. What other possible reason can there be to spend money on something that is free?? Honestly, only someone who works for EA could see this any other way. You sell something, then take away 90%-- yes, 90%-- of the value two days later is wrong no matter how much you try to spin it otherwise.

    Regardless your complaints are invalid.

Apple does not seem to agree with you.
  • As doggirl has pointed out, my biggest issue is that mods I had with established secondaries got changed to different stats. I get that the values were too high, but one of my 5 star b quality had +5 speed as a secondary stat at level 1. I upgraded it all the way and got even more speed. The primary was %protection. Damn good mod. Now it's health and no speed. I declare shenanigans.
  • I think they could give us new Super powered toon maybe 7 star Jedi Luke, then after a couple days convert it to a 3 star jar jar.

The read through the comments. The theme her seems to be that everyone was upset they weren't warned that mods were going to be nerfed.

but I think you had to assume something was going to change. I'm in a top tier guild and people were dropping several at a time. So there could have been two responses, nerf the mods or make them more available. The former was chosen.

as for feeling cheated because you spent money/resources on the mods and they are less powerful when you originally acquired them. They still offer a large advantage over anything else. I challenge anyone to tell me what they would have spent their resources on in-game that would have been more useful then the mods.

honestly this all sounds like massive complaining because you can't absolutely wreck opponents anymore

What I liked on them is they had the boost to make nonviable characters viable. I saw massive diversity in arena, I loved it.

Would I have spent the 2 vaults and 30+mil creds refreshing into 3k on Mod challenges had I know the insta adjust? Not on your life.

Can I tell you there is a better way to spend resources? Yes and no, given the resource cost the huge now RNG impact I'd say yes. You know what you get gearing, leveling, starring. Of the last 10 mods to drop for me 8 were defense primary. The sub stats are typically not great. You might get a nice 800 protection or HP or 7-11 speed, but rare. The Crit chance at 2% is nice, adding 40+ offense, rare but good. Your resouce goes...If one drops..Will it be 3,4,or 5*...Will it be good rariety....Will it have a good Primary....Will it have any useful secondaries that actually impact....Lots of RNG luck. This is Galaxay of heroes not Galaxy of slots.

Do you desperately need mods? Yes and no. I unmodded all my characters to reallocate. Me being the tester I am I hit full modded top 10 teams on a late Nov shard. I attacked 7 times. I won all 7. I was unmodded, they were modded fully most all had 6, 5* mods. Did I wreck them? Oh no I admit only 2 were not skin of my teeth wins. The 2 that were not were literally a lucky Dodge here and and a non dodge by them, a lucky couple stuns. They were heavy help from RNG not being lopsided. Yes you can argue I have access to the "whale" characters that are max gear and omega so that is why. I can't argue that. Modded or unmodded Rex still gives TM and Tenacity, Fac still counters with huge health and dispells. He syill gives offense down on taunt. Ani still wrecks people as does Rey. Just a point that for the resource cost they are not that big an impact unless you get the gems very often and load them. I have over 100 5* mods and the gems are rare.

More diversity? Our server is a late December server and all we saw was an increase in Old Ben and Dooku. Dooku had a ridiculous amount of HP damage and Old Ben became the fastest character on the field.

Personally I didn't care for the original mods because they kind of broke character and class identity. A tank is a tank and a dps is a dps, a dps should not also be a tank.

Aside from GW and introducing a non-recession like economy into the game, the dev's really need to put some effort into fixing or revamping other characters like they did with JKA. Putting unbalanced Mods into the game was just like putting duct tape over a hole, it's not fixing the problem. If they fix characters like Mace Windu and Darth Maul properly then they stand to be very good characters and the game can still be balanced.

Also, I never saw a credit back for the 10 million I put into mods the first couple days that completely cleared me out.

And you shouldn't because you got a bargain on those mods (as they are now more scarce and harder to upgrade) and they are super utile.

A bargain on crap is still crap. The mods should never have been released into the game because they were not well tested and needed to be "fixxed" quickly when they realized how bad they screwed the game.

And I don't feel I got a bargain on mods with changed secondary stats. I liked the primary and secondary stats of the mods I had. Go ahead and alter those to appropriate levels, but leave the stats I felt necessitated spending on in the first place. Bait and switch is BS.
