Fix JKR/GAS/Thrawn counter Against GL Rey

Well, since we’re apparently just “fixing” every viable counter to Galactic Legends, how come this one hasn’t been addressed?

My suggestion: make GL Rey immune to Fracture.

  • as it stands I'd trade my ult rey for 80% of max towards kylo and farm the last 20% to get kylo instead.

I'm honestly considering jumping ship from Rey right now. Since I'm a hoarder, I haven't actually spent the relic materials or Signal Data to increase my g13 Resistance up to where they need to be (and still have 3 toons that need 1-2 g12 pieces each to reach g13). Farming that Signal Data takes a LONG time.

Maybe I should just start throwing gear at Palp, VetHan, and FO? I'm telling you, I'm thinking about it. And I'll keep thinking about it until I either make the switch or boost those last 3 Resistance toons to G13.

I hope you're being sarcastic. Every existing counter against Rey is 100% legitimate and needs really good modding + lucky rng. And still there are comps that can't be countered that way. Those toons are stupidly overpowered already, the "fix" for Kylo a bad joke. At least don't make things even worse!

Replace CUP with zBarriss and taking out ST might not make as big a difference as you think. [I cannot be sure of this, of course, since I can't test it yet, but the point is that CUP adds nothing and therefore there's a lot of room for improvement on the Padmé squad as well. Just making that one change to the SLKR squad, then, shouldn't be considered automagically sufficient.

Of course, your main comment seems to be here:
But as I've talked to a SLK owner, he doesn't want to have to think, he paid money, he just wants to win by virtue of him paying money for a character.

and while I don't think that swapping out ST guarantees victory for SLKR (again, not having tested it), I do think that this attitude is prevalent amongst a lot of top players. And, yes. I agree with you that it's a terrible attitude.

That said, I sympathize with part of that attitude as well. Not the idea that I should always win if I pay money, but with the part that there's a lot going on in the game, and I don't want every battle to be difficult. There's a huge amount of work we put in over time to farm and gear toons. I like knowing that a particular counter works, and then building that counter from scratch, and then feeling confident whenever I send that counter into battle.

There was a while when Nego battles were frustratingly susceptible to RNG for me. Eventually I maxed out Kenobi (he had been r6) and boosted a couple bit players, and swapped out one reinforcement for Cassian to dispel all taunts and then call a killer assist right away while key enemy ships were vulnerable. Now I'm back to never losing and that's nice. I like the confidence.

So I understand the appeal of going into a match with confidence. But I dislike that people think themselves entitled to buy it with cash and I think that if you don't have that confidence then, in the vast majority of cases, you should not be complaining on the forum about it. I'd have to check, but I don't think I ever once complained here that Nego battles were too hard.

When SLKR players are soloing HSTR and then complaining that they only win every arena battle on offense, but can still be beat on defense, well, look upon the field where I grow my Freuds, and see that it is barren.

the reason the "CUP" counter works is because of Sith Trooper assisting. If you don't have an attack out of turn every single turn against fives, he will die. It's Padme and Kylo's AI that makes it work, not CUP.

Slkr gets the **** kicked out of him by padme with 5s, echo, gas, and cup. Maybe you should just stop complaining and whale harder.

Only if Sith Trooper is in the squad.
Remove Sith Trooper and fives will die.

I understand the mechanism that is being relied on here. I also understand that CUP has nothing to do with making it work. That's why I said zBarriss would be an improvement on CUP.

My uncertainty about whether or not you could still get away with something like this even if the SLKR squad removed ST is because I'm just not sure that a health-modded, high-defense Fives wouldn't survive long enough with a zeta-Barris in place of CUP. Since they're constantly getting Advantage and zBarriss passively heals on a critical, I don't know how long that would keep Fives alive, but definitely longer than without zBarriss. And depending on how long he actually survives, that might be long enough to have GA$ take out SLKR's squadmates, at which point one could presumably win even if 5s died.

Again, I'm not asserting this would work, just that it works better than CUP and would be worth a try if they took ST out of the lineup. Playtesting will determine whether it actually provides a reliable path to victory.

If fives is getting crit and only being healed for 20% of his health after losing 50+% of it to a crit from Kylo, he's going to die. It may take 3-4 hits rather than the 2-3 it takes without Barris but he'd die.

  • I have people reporting this has been fixed by Kylo doesn't target 5s anymore (unless taunt ofc)
