Fortitude in GW

What's the point, it is a health bar that doesn't regenerate by player means. So all it does is help out your squad for the beginner rounds where your team should be beating your opponent anyway, but when you come up agains the more challenging squads later on you don't have Fortitude while their team does. What sense does that make? How are you supposed to win GW anymore without becoming a whale.

  • I am not a whale, and win GW everyday (on both accounts, one of which is entirely FTP). On my main account (where I have spent some money) I simply use fun squads for the first 5 nodes (the first 3 are usually Ewoks, because Ewoks) and pick up my main squad around node 6 or 7. My main squad being Barris (L), Lumi, Sid, JC/Daka, Dooku/Poggle.

On my main I have a deep enough bench that it's not a big deal if toons die, especially after node 9. I also enjoy playing the last node or two with my droid team, so it doesn't matter if anyone dies prior to node 10.
  • On my main I have 8 7*, and a few waiting for credits. On my alt account I have zero 7*, and only have 2 toons that are even at G7, but still beat it (running a nighsister team).

Toons also seem to do less all around damage, so fights last longer. When fights last longer you have more chances to heal and it's easier to reset cool downs at the ends of fights. Focus on Barriss, Lumi, JC, and Daka to help with GW. Talia is another good choice, but I wouldn't pick her over some of the other farming options.

I'm not asking who to farm, I'm asking what is the point of a health bar that you can heal. Especially in a game mode that is continuous battles with roll over cooldowns and health.

Sorry but I don't believe that for a second. You probably do run a NightSister squad but I'm not dumb. I've played the same game as you and I know that that squad would get ruined. Once fortitude goes away toons like Daka and Ventriss just don't have enough health to stay in at the later GW battles.
  • Personally, I think you should get back an equal percentage of protection with your health bar. So, for example, if I finish the node with full health, I get back full protection. If I finish with 25% health, I get 25% protection back. The strategy stays intact, it would still be hard but fair.

Edit: Even half the percent of health would be a fair change. For example, if I end with 100% health, I get the greater of 50% protection or my ending protection. If I end with 80% health, I get the greater of 40% protection or ending protection (Barriss can reduce health while leaving protection in place).

Well, believe what you want, and I suppose I wasn't entirely truthful. My alt GW A-Team is actually Talia (L), Ventriss, Daka, Lumi, Sid, none higher than lvl51, only Ventriss and Initiate on G7. I swap in Initiate sometimes (*just* unlocked Acolyte yesterday). While I occasionally have to use a suicide squad, I have finished every day since the update.

Also worth noting, I rarely even face opposition with G7 on that account. To me, that just says the matchmaking is really fixed. Yesterday my final node had a toon with G3. My arena team on that account is <15k power (Talia, Ventriss, Daka, Initiate, Lumi), and I only win about half the time, current rank 2200ish.

See this would make sense but that's something the devs don't seem to have. They decided it would be a good idea to implement this huge change all at once instead of testing the waters by doing it in steps. They should have left damage alone and added the fortitude to see if it was balanced. Or reduce the damage and hold off on the fortitude to see if that balances. Ultimately they failed with this update they just need to actually admit that defence is useless and toons like Eath Koth are useless as leader becuase of this.
