There's an argument to be made for adjusting matchmaking to let fleet GP weigh less than squad GP, which has been made by people on this forum, but the banners are fine as is.
I think that’s what the OP is suggesting. Really there’s 2 ways to adjust to accomplish the same thing: weigh ship GP less or increase banners provided by ships. Either way will adjust the math the same.
increasing banners for fleet is definately not the way to go simply because i don't think the guy should have won in that screenshot posted in this thread.
Lets say they did have exactly the same fleet/squad gp ratio, being able to defeat the squad territory should have a bigger impact on the outcome of the match than being able to defeat the fleet territory. Imo that's a no brainer.
Again, speaking for the OP here, I don’t think anyone is suggesting that scenario should be a win either. It should be a tie and the tie breakers such as better wins, first wins, etc. should determine the winner.
But to your other point, I posted earlier that the opponent in this match only had to beat 25 toons to win. The OP beat at least 28 (more if the opponent used ships like phantom) toons and still lost. That certainly doesn’t seem fair.
like i said, squad should have a bigger impact on the outcome (like it is now).
Not sure what you mean by that 2nd paragraph though.
Not super important. I was just using an example I pointed out earlier.
We’re almost getting into a circular discussion here...I reread your earlier comment and I think it, in a way, highlights what the OP is discussing.
“Lets say they did have exactly the same fleet/squad gp ratio, being able to defeat the squad territory should have a bigger impact on the outcome of the match than being able to defeat the fleet territory. Imo that's a no brainer.”
If they had the same GP ratio, I could see the logic in this argument. But under the current matchmaking system, that will never happen. If the OP lost to someone with the same squad to ship GP ratio under the scenario provided, I don’t think there would be reason to ask for change. But under the current system, the OP is being penalized for focusing more on ships (thus winning the ship territory) and having a higher ship GP than the opponent. The OP will field stronger fleets and weaker squads than the opponent, and the OP will score fewer points because there are less available for ships.
Anyway, you and I had a similar discussion on another thread and seemed to come to an agreement that weighting ship GP less would be a logical solution to this problem (even if it didn’t change the outcome of many matches).
