Hi,i have an old school account with now 7 mil gp.I started the NEW GAC in Kyber 2, i have only 1 GL.My first season went 6-6, a good result in my book, everytime haveing less GL than my opponents .Next round i went 1-2 and got demoted to Kyber 3.Last round i went 3-0 in Kyber an got promoted to Kyber 2, having 3400 skill rating (3310 score means i fall out of Kyber 2...).Well i pretty much know that i will go 0-3 or 1-2 in the next round most likely, 2-1 is possible but that needs alot of luck and incompetent squad placement ( i am just average, not really good) of my opponentes (theres a reason why i won 7 matches in K2).Which will result in me beeing demoted to Kyber 3 again (which i really prefer ^^).My point is: The gain and loss of skill rating should be somewhat less, that you dont move around that much.

You’re winning/losing roughly 50% of your matchups. Which really is what to be expected, going off of the dev notes.

I think the difference between Kyber 2 and Kyber1 3 is more psychological this early on.There's still a lot of settling going on in the rankings. Some players with less GP are pushing up and others with more GP are on a fast or slow decent. Given the group sizes are 8 players and you only face 3 of them, means its kind of a mixed bag of what kind of player you'll be matched with.

Yes the alt did. main got demoted (which it wouldn't have without the squish).

Edit: to clarify, alt actually STARTED the first week with enough points to get promoted to the next division.

I think the squish is required because of their flawed decision to set the divisions up as 10/25/30/25/10% of the league population.

Because the population of div 3 is higher than div 2 and 4, there will be more players in div 3 that have point losses to drop into div4 than there are players who have point gains to rise into div 3. The same the other direction, and exacerbated by the larger population difference in div4 to div5 or div2 to div1.

This means that over a season, where the point thresholds do not change for the divisions, the player population is migrating out towards the top and bottom divisions of a league. If a season went on for longer the population of the league would stabilize with 20% in each division eventually.

Because they want to maintain their division populations they have to adjust the point ranges every season. If they just did this alone that would mean thousands of players getting immediately demoted or promoted at that time when the points were adjusted. That would be quite disruptive to the community.

So instead, the adjust the div point ranges and also scale every player to move them towards where they actually want the population to be.

I think this problem would go away if they made every division equal in size.

It probably would; but as things stand I don't see how we ever truly settle. The system they've set up seems to constantly need to be coddled by them, rather than simply let nature run its course. An explanation of the squish (how they decide who gets more points, who loses points) would also help but I doubt we ever get that.

I think the main goal of unbalanced divisions and therefore squishing was to make mobility more pronounced. With unbalanced divisions it’s harder to stay in k1 though easier to reach k1. The other benefit was it lessened the rewards distributed to the upper half of each league

Equal divisions certainly would be more stable but cg doesn’t want stability. Stability doesn’t encourage you to progress and deplete all your crystals or feel you have to spend your omicrons on gac omicrons. Or any of the other reasons squishing frustrates.

I don’t have any GLs and my opponent has 3 of them on defense. None of his visible teams are below 141,000 and my strongest team on defense is 112,000. I think it’s going to take more than 1 1/2 cycles to balance this garbage out.

You are over 6.8 mil GP and you have no GL’s. No matchmaking system they devise is going to give you a fair matchup. And if you check your opponents history, he barely bothers to attack, if at all.
