GAC Scorings

I’ve been wondering for a while now exactly how you’re ranked within the 8 spots at the end of each set. Is it primarily a win/loss calculation, or are your overall banners factored in?

For context, there’s been a few rounds where I’ve been full cleared and have known I don’t have the capacity to full clear them. In this case, would taking out the teams I could boost my overall score and final ranking at the end, or am I just wasting my time?

Lmao what. 3 losses is 8th place. 1 win, 2 losses is places 5-7. 2 wins, 1 loss is places 2-4. 3 wins is 1st place. This determines your end-of-week loot, which is identical for the three players ranked 2-4 and for the three ranked 5-7. 1st place gets best loot, 8th place obviously worst loot.

Why would it be random when your ranking determines the loot you get? GAC isn't HSTR.

  • No, seeing as I don't really play video games...or use a computer for them.

Why would I have reason to suspect the rewards work that way?

But if you click on the button that DarjeloSalas pointed to, you'll see the bracket table.  On the right it has the table ranking system 'wins'.   (Before any wins it's done by Division position.  After that for ties.......well that's being debated).

Also, if you use swgoh.gg for your GAC it has the wins in the bracket.  You're considered an experienced SWGOHer (by me at least).  There's no way I'd have thought you were asking for something that is so easily available in game by pressing a button I'd have thought everybody pressed often.  If I posted what you wanted, I'd felt I would have been insulting you.  However, you kinda backed me into a corner with it.

Corner backing wasn’t my intention. Like I told Darjelo, I just take the rewards at the end but assumed something about the prizes that ended up being incorrect.

Thanks for the links! I couldn't find examples in the last bracket near me.

However, there are some scoring anomalies that confuse me, and I don't really have time to dig into it further. While the two WLW players do end up with the same score at the end (3486), the two LWL players do not (3412 and 3411). This means everyone else in the bracket besides the WLW players does indeed end up with a unique score.

The source of this (and my confusion) is that score changes don't seem consistent across players. There's a separate issue where 5 of the players have no score change for round two; however, as the round three changes for these players make sense as linear combinations of two scores in the appropriate range, I suspect this is due to sync issues with swgoh.gg. The main issue is some players get +/-39 for the first round (posted MAR6), and some get +/- 38. It's not logically consistent, either. While Krishna gets +39 against Goggy (-39), Ryke gets +39 against Deadspace, who only gets -38 for the defeat. Deadspace then gets -38 for round 2 (interesting to note they scored a 0 in that round), and then a +37 in round three.

The final score vectors are thus (reported) [reconstructed]:

    Krishna (+39, +0, +74) [+39, +38, +36]

    Ryke (+39, -38, +36)

    Veldor (+38, +0, +1) [+38, +37, -36]

    Zfour (+38, +0, -1) [+38, -37, +36]

    Trufra (-38, +37, -36)

    Goggy (-39, +0, +1) [-39, +38, -37]

    Deadspace (-38, -38, +37)

    McKnight (-38, +0, -74) [-38, -37, -37]

Please note that in the reconstructed score vectors where more than one solution for the MAR10 value was possible, I used the opposite of their opponent's MAR8 score, which was reported on swgoh.gg in all such cases.

So why the score change vectors are not consistent is beyond me.

Well, more layers of the onion are being peeled. I decided to check my bracket's scores after round one.

While I appear to have gotten +43 and my opponent -43, the other three winners only got +42. Two of the losers besides my opponent got -43, but one got -42. I can't find a reason for the discrepancy. I had slightly lower GP than my opponent, and the other player with the extra point had the lowest GP in the bracket. The difference is, they lost. The other two pairs should show one or both of these patterns, but they don't, so that can't be it. Likewise, in the bracket that was posted yesterday, there's no consistent GP pattern to the extra points.

My opponent scored a 0, but again, this can't be what happened in the other match as the loser gained an extra point. Why did Deadspace gain an extra point for losing in the other bracket on a round where they did NOT post a 0? So no pattern there.

What I can tell you is that SR does NOT determine ranking within brackets; only record does. I have the highest SR now by 1, but my rank is listed as #2. The extra point loser should be #5 by SR, but they are #7.

So, not sure about the points. A thought occurs to me that SRs could have decimal values to them that aren't displayed. This might help explain global leaderboard rankings, but as I've demonstrated, it doesn't affect within-bracket rankings.

Similarly, I earned +43 for winning round 1, the other three winners got +42, so I'm 1 SR ahead of them but ranked 4th.

Edit - and I've definitely proved in the past that the ranking is not down to banners scored in matches.

One hates to say something in a piece of software is ever truly random, but I am struggling to think of anything to explain the rankings within a bracket (for those with the same W/L record).
