Imperial tie fighter protection?

TIE Fighters don't have shields, so no protection makes up for it. Also it has a crazy dodge rate to compensate

They have protection in the challenges though.

So the Dodge ability is why it's so hard to give damage to them?

It is First Order Tie Fighter not Empire Tie Fighter

I believe both tie fighters have protection in the capital ship challenges.

Yeah - IIRC, regular tie has no protection, but has good evasion and can get foresight. FOTF has a shield. Look at them in the challenges, regular tie has black panels, FOTF has white / gray panels.

You can give regular tie protection through other teammates' abilities though.

Well mine doges about as well as a paraplegic in a chair bolted to the floor.

I'm not sure how to post screenshots but I just went into the Endurance capital ship challenge, and imperial tie fighters do indeed start with protection. Guess it's just to give the AI an advantage over us.

Its kinda the same way that all AI characters in LS/DS battles don't have any protection at all despite being gear level 12. They just make the AI ships slightly different to compensate for lack of intelligence. Should really be ALI. Artificial Lack of Intelligence.

TIE Fighters don't need protection for two reasons:

-In canon, they don't have sheilds meaning their defense was traded off for more maneuverability

-They have a high dodge rate

This. In challenges, the Imperial Ties also have protection.
