the event is not difficult if you have Payed to have Bossk. it's only difficult for those who doesn't have it.
The philiosphy of the game : Marquee, then Marquee, again Marquee, Whale Legendary Event (You need a marquee) then Marquee, again Marquee, again Marquee, Hero Whale Journey (Chewee 7 stars required + 2 or 3 Marquee)n then Marquee, Marquee .....

What r you talking about dude? I'm F2P and got 7* G12 zBossk for about 2 weeks just by farming him from hard node 24 battles per day. And why do you think that they should make some giveaway with g8-9 requirements? I cannot say that g8-9 reqs isn't giveaway cuz u can up all 5 characters from 0 to g8 in a single day. In this legendary u need only 5 old characters even without Bossk just with g12 gear. Maybe it's hard for new players, but...this is the game, play longer or pay money thats how it works u cant get everything within few months just by tapping few times on ur screen/day.
Here's a lot of people who play this game for 3 yeas and we don't wanna log in and take one more "free" legendary, we want some challenge, objective, what to do next, who to farm next to get that legendary.

I think the point is that most people needed to either spend to have Bossk 7* now or spending a huge portion of their energy on him (480/725 if you get 3x refreshes and hit all free energy), including the required crystals to refresh. I’ve been doing the “classic” farm (no refreshes) and have only got him to 5*. Either way, you have to have spent at least some crystals on him, even if it’s a small amount per day rather that a huge chunk all at once. Yes, you can do that FTP, but if you haven’t been playing since day 1 you’re probably trading that for other needed farms (either hard nodes that you don’t have enough energy for or slow cantina that you don’t have crystals for extra energy).

you have to choose where to spend your energy and crystals everyday in the game. That's pretty much the point.

I and some others chose to focus farm bossk when the event was announced. It paid off but that wasn't hard ti predict. It did set my bastilla farming back but I'll recover. In fact, that isn't too hard because now I don't need to farm bossk since I was farming him anyway.

Those that chose not to focus, only have themselves to blame if they wanted a 7 star chewie and didn't get one because they didn't focus.

And there is no way to make it where new players won't have an opportunity cost from trying to get a brand new legendary they aren't close to. I'm sure they'll be some that were hard farming vets and stopped for bossk, that may regret it if jtr comes next month. But that's a choice they made.

And you don't have to be a day 1 player to catch up on legendary characters. I started in November 2016 and caught up and finally got a legendary the first go around. You just have to focus and eventually you'll have them all and have more freedom to focus on possible speculation.

For example, I'm farming all the kotor toons next and can do that because I'm done playing catch up. Eventually newer players will get thete too but it is unreasonable to think that brand new players are going to unlock the newest legendary without some opportunity cost.
