Levi is the worst meta ever!

So you spend hour or more in fleet battle for those goddamn crystals. But you cant get to top 5 because fleet battles turned into rocket science and rng fest... im so fucking tired. Every single day have to try try and try these battles are so discouraging... so what, now i have to r9 every single pilot to test it out if it will help me to win more battles?!?!?! Come on... where is balance??? I was fine with profundity beating Levi. But now its game over

  • The other option to fix Fleet coinflip metas like Leviathan is a relatively terrifying step: Ship Mods.

Would need to be quite different than current character Mods, especially because of how important Speed is for Ships and for Leviathan specifically over other stats, but it would be a more permanent solution than added Gear levels or specific kit alterations.

Or just get rid of fleet arena so you don't need just 1 team to win. RNG to win GAC sounds just about what this game needs.

Those of you saying “soft counters exist” I’m not sure that you guys are actually using them. They can work, rarely, but not really useful when trying to climb for fleet arena. As evidenced anecdotally by my shard in that since the update the top ranks are dominated 24 hours a day by the handful of Levi ships. They don’t drop. In fact I’m the only one I’ve seen in my fleet shard actually climb into top 5 without Levi since the update.

    This.

I already said it before and will say it again. The "counters" some people talk about are anything but reliable.
There is a difference between a soft counter and a ship that was the most expensive ship and now maybe works 10-20% if you're lucky. That's worthless and not a counter. Also I will mention again, I am sure that many of those people do not face the fleet with Assassin and max modded/reliced etc ships.

Also people should not forget, even if some Videos might exist, which there are few with Assassin etc, we do not know how many tries it took to get the fight actually done. That is in no way an indication for a counter.

Considering i only have a 6* Levi, I use soft counters to beat 7* Levi every day since update. I tried both and have more success with Chimera than with Prof, even with a g12 Iden. I didn’t track my win rate, but it’s at least 50%. After my climb I put back my 6* Levi as I’m a target of choice if i leave my Chimera on D.

You seem to forget that Scythe is a ship many of the players don't have and many will not have for a long time. Relative to the total number of players it is not the majority whom has it. This is exactly what I mean. It is not a counter everyone can use or get relatively fast. It needs a legendary character plus a Conquest unit. To think that it is a counter that can be easily used or farmed/worked on is the problem here.

This is how the game has always worked and will always work.

New ships / characters are released and those that farm them quickly have an advantage over those that don’t. Those that have deeper rosters might be able to counter the new ships / characters with an off-meta counter, but thinner rosters probably won’t.

Suggesting that this is in some way new or exclusive to Leviathan is deluded.

I never said so. Where did I say that?
All I am saying is that everyone whom talks about a counter and uses the Scythe counter as a basis for how easy it is to counter Levi is actually not taking into consideration that this counter is not possible for the majority of players and involves units that are definitely not the norm or easily attainable.

    1) Ppl facing Levi are either at a point in the game where they could have the same stuff (Scythe or their own Levi) as they are on the same shard as ppl or they're simply performing very well in GAC - I also cannot wait to go up against 8 GL owners + JKCK in GAC while I don't have my own Leia + JKCK yet but it'll happen as I have a good GAC performance

    2) As I alrdy said, Empire is not the only counter outside of mirror. It's just that with it's probably 60-70% win rate it should be better than Profundity. Don't have an estimation for that but using the Biggs starting strat to let him catch isolate after either using Dash 1st special for guaranteed TL or Prof basic on Dash to use 2nd special and get tenacity up for debuff resisiting and hoping that the follow up attacks get a TL to let Biggd taunt and then reinforcing Ywing before Levi can sabotage hangars are valid strats. It's just that they're most likely more RNG based than Empire. Or is Profun also not allowed and we're only allowed to use Nego/Mal?
  • I'll try and be balanced. Prof and therefore Exec got a bit of an extended run due to Leviathan having a bumpy release.

Leviathan is now clearly the top dog and that isn't going to change until its counterpart is out.

I think when Exec came out, it was very rough on those that didn't have it, so the current dominance of 1 fleet isn't without precedent.
  • The funniest thing about Levi is they fixed it so it calls in SETs ship, but all it wants to do on auto is keep using the 1st special rather than the basic.

A few things first ... I created this forum account after playing since 2017. I've been 100% FTP and saw no reason to voice opinion until now. Being FTP is for context only.

Now to my two cents ...

Leviathan is far from unbeatable using profundity. Compared to before the unnecessary buff, I'm doing around the same versus leviathan in fleet arena although tactics needed adjustment. After adjustment, I call Biggs for reinforcement, Biggs deal, right?

I don't have leviathan but will 6* or 7* next event. Why? It's a relevant fleet.

What bothers me is the buff it was given outside of its kit to appease spenders. Taking 1st easily wasn't enough. You all wanted and expected to take 1st, hold it without opposition all on AI decision making (auto battle offense and defense AI). No competition unless your opponent spent more if not something to win against you. CG caved and buffed an already meta fleet (on offense).

Before the unnecessary buff, my shard didn't see leviathan fleets outside of top 10 while we had less than 10 and now they don't fall beyond top 20 with at least 13 7*.

I'm not complaining about ranks. I take 1st using profundity. So, those saying it can't be done are very wrong.

What bothers me most is that after I get leviathan to 7*, I need to deal with mirror battles instead of a hard counter unless I climb with profundity. Either case isn't a hard counter and there should be one regardless of "meta defining" interpretations. Leviathan met that interpretation by me before it was buffed and I still planned to acquire it in my time.

In the end, all I'm trying to say is that leviathan has been bad for the game since it was launched. For the health of the game, CG should consider releasing monstrosities like leviathan with an alternative hard counter at the same time.

    Choice is important.

They will sell the hard counter in a couple months
  • All I can say is my Assassin is still R5, Maurader, Malgus, and both Sith Troopers are all R7 and I win mirror matches against R8 and R9 pilots. So I would not waste the resources to up them unless you want the character that high.

Upcoming Conquest will be Punishing One to push Executor higher. Then Next year Red 5 will come to boost rebels. They have to draw it out to make more $$$
  • CG said Levi was going to be the new "King of the meta" in fleets. When it was released it was full of bugs and problems that were clearly not intended. People that bought into CG's promise were upset that they didn't deliver on that promise. CG fixes Levi - delivers on promise.

And people are upset about this?

This is no different from every previous capital ship release ever - with the exception that some of them actually worked when they were released. This is how the meta changes. This is how the meta has always changed. There's nothing new going on.

Profundity still easily beats everything that came before it and sometimes, with the right strategy can beat the new shiny. Executor still easily beats everything that came before it and sometimes with the right RNG still beats Profundity. Malevolence still beats everything that came before it and sometimes with the right RNG and strategy beats Executor.

This is how it's always been. Other than SUPER annoying mirrors with Leviathan, I don't see a problem, nor a deviation from the norm here. Newer players shouldn't be expecting to have every possible counter available - that's the nature of being a newer player. You just aren't going to have the roster depth - but that's where people have to get creative and figure out alternatives. That's how new counters are discovered.

No one should be jumping into this game expecting to stay on the bleeding edge of the meta without either putting serious time into the game or serious money - or even both. When the meta shifts, the things that used to be great get down-graded to good, and things that used to be good get down-graded to OK, and so on. That's how it's always been. That's the nature of the game.
