New player here, advice appreciated

Wedge, Biggs, Lando, STHan +1 was the meta for months before specific characters were invented to deal almost specifically with them. One of the guys to deal with them is a fast Boba. So while the +1 used to be Anakin, or RG, or Shoretrooper (another char added specifically to deal with Wiggs and AoE meta), it is now either Boba or EP (EP works well too, but you won't have him until the event comes around again, so forget about that). Boba is great because he also works well in Empire teams (one of the best current teams). He does good damage, has an AoE ability block (the reason he works against Wiggs teams) and if you're not careful, will rez repeatedly and fuck you up. He's not the Wiggs killer that Baze or even Shoretrooper is, but you're also one of the first in your shard to have Wedge, and neither Shoretrooper nor Baze are readily available at all (only whales have them). And because you're ahead of most of your shard on having Wedge, you should have a pretty good time in the arena.

Thanks for the all the advice , I may keep this thread goin a bit maybe change topic as I have the galactic war opening up very soon and I have no clue

STH (Stormtrooper Han) is a MUST at mid to high levels (unless you have Baze Malbus or Shoretrooper) for the TMU (Turn meter up) factor alone. Wedge is squishy and will die quickly but with STH he'll survive a lot longer. Farm STH over AA. AA is good mind you for leadership and cleansing but STH is a necessity in the beginning. STH needs a lot of speed to get going and sadly until you reach level 50 and open up mods he'll be rather slow...still, he's a darn good tank with a nice offensive kit. Just don't waste ability materials on his leadership ability - though not a bad ability (it's actually pretty nice) his other abilities take precedence.

Acrofales has also given you some darn good advice on how to counter a speedy STH. Boba's rework last month made him a speed demon without mods and a speed monster with them. He also can help you out tremendously in the credit heists as he is a scoundrel like STH. A good pairing would be Boba as leader with STH as your tank. Do you have other scoundrels available to do that mission because that's the #1 source for credits? If you don't, I'd suggest IG-88 (from Arena) and Cad Bane (from GW). Zam Wessell and Dengar are also good but are slightly rarer (Dengar from Chromium or Guild Shop and Zam from everywhere but never where you need her ;) )

You guys are always such downers. He only needs a few more shards to get Ackbar. Why discourage the guy? Ackbar isn't top-shelf hooch, but so what? He's still useful to a new player, is an effective Vader counter, and can help unlock Big Poppy Palpatine. Y'all been playing too long.

The bottom line is, Ackbar, St Han, Boba, Qui-Gon are all quality heroes and are worth having. Yes, I would prioritize St Han over Ackbar, but constantly switching your focus on shard farming is a sure path to nowheresville. Almost all veteran players agree on this -- until they see someone farming a hero they don't particularly like, then suddenly their advice is to switch up the focus. Consistency, folks! I say make a choice and see it through, at the very least until unlock.

Having gotten that out of the way... Boba recently got reworked, and everybody is all super psyched about it. He went from mediocre to highly effective overnight. Which makes him a featured flavor-of-the-month for many players who ignored him until now (myself included; I'm building him too and plan to Arena him). Chase him now if you want, he will help you a ton in DS, Credit Heist, Cantina, Fleet, and Arena. Lots of use for Boba. Qui-Gon is great too, he is fast, highly effective at removing taunt, a beast in the Pit, and helps you get Yoda.

Great thing about this game is making your own choices and following your interests.

These forums are a lot friendlier that the FIFA ones that's for sure, I'm not goin to waste time farming a character who isn't good end game waste of time, so I will not put another shard into Akbar purposely I have used him on my mates phone and with the allies and he he is good (most prob as he is 85 and I am 40) but as I have wedge as pretty much my main guy at the min I may aswell get Han, Rebels ftw
