Regarding GAC and PvP

Hi guys.

I write this knowing this is not the proper way of submitting suggestions. But for us to discuss.

I dont know about you, but Im kind of boring and frustrated with the current GAC matchmaking system. Yes, another thread about this. I know.

I'll try to add my two cents on the topic.

As far as I understand, the current system is designed for us to eventually reach to a certain point where we end up getting 50% wins and 50% defeats. We might not get that results in short terms, but in the long run the way matchmaking is designed takes us to that point.

This means: it doesnt matter if you are good. If you know how to pilot your guys. Even if you decide not to play a single battle and give away a whole round. If you get back to the game, youll end up compensating those rounds.

Now, if you happen to unlock new toons, or to invest in a particular datacron set, particularly in the lower leagues, where people doesnt have all GLs and important toons and ships, you might get lucky with a specific datacron set and take advantage of that.
It doesnt matter. The point here is: you might rise your daily and regular crystal income if you start getting all the unlocks. But as matchmaking regards, youll end up getting 50-50 win/loss ratio eventually.

This is boring and its, from the scratch, designed to be boring.
Why?
Because the idea behind it is to somehow make the crystal income and economy predictible and managable. I dont have a problem with that. I have a problem with the fact that right now the game binded that economy control with the pvp gamemode.

They should separate both. Cant say how. Thats the piece mostly opened to discussion .

I can imagine they want to give us different cystal income according to our progress on the roster and the unlocks. You can see the higher the league, the better the crystals. But again, that doesnt have anything to do with your win/loss ratio, but with your progress on the Journey guide mostly. Because, eventually, youll end up getting one win and one loss.

So, I dont know, maybe they could just remove crystals from GAC. And maybe give the usual average crystal income for every league as a daily or weekly income accoring to your progress in the journey guide. Maybe introducing some changes there, so they can include conquest characters and other marquees. This way, the can incentivate us to progress torward our rosters, and leave pvp with a decent matchmaking system. This gamemode might give other pvp oriented rewards or just some kind of prestige system with ranking and such. Big streaming tournaments. Not sure actually, I should hear from the most experienced players here.

But I think the idea behind this thread is: unbind the crystal income system from the pvp system.
  • I get why some players might not like GAC, but personally I think it’s a good place to have crystals. You get to use a large portion of your roster and test it against another players. If crystals were in more game modes, and slightly less in GAC I could probably get behind that in principle, but I wouldn’t want them gone from GAC entirely. YMMV
  • Removing crystals from gac would make that game mode redundant, just like squad arena no need to try there anymore if anything just use it to practice a squad on. No thank you
  • Gac is a zero sum mode. Removing crystals, changing how opponents are assigned or anything else you do can’t change the fact that for every winner there is a loser.

Ahhhh I get it now, OP wants the crystals to go back to arena and make sure that way he gets 50 crystals perday since he wont be able to reach top 100 let alone top 20. All these people complaining about the crystals in gac are absolutely hilarious

Except that’s 100% not what they said, wanting crystals back in squad arena. They want crystals away from PVP, meaning GAC and by extension squad arena as well.

The crystal separation would make cheaters less aggravating

Cheaters will cheat in whichever game mode crystals are tied to. It’s what they do sadly. The difference in removing them from PVP modes is their opponent wouldn’t suffer by a cheaters actions.
  • I thought it was kind of the point to reward people who develop large effective rosters? Current GAC is great, you basically rise to your level of competence. you win more than lose until you get to the point where you are matched with your equals and vice versa. Getting Crystals in GAC was one of the best changes ever made in this game, removing crystals from there would be huge folly.

For the record. I dont want crystals back to arena. As a matter of fact, they should remove that from fleets too.

Im not sure how to replace the system. Not sure how to make sure everyone keeps getting what are getting right now.

Also not sure how to make pvp a challenging and popular gamemode if we take out the crystal income.

Just wanted to point out right now, the system just rewards the level of your roster. Not the skills you might have in pvp. If you focus on some GAC omicrons or specific squads, yes, that will push you up in the ladder. But thats not necessarly a progress in your game. Just in your roster. Eventually, youll end up with the 50-50 ratio.

I dont know. Adding the crystal income to a Journeys guide scale progress looks promising.

And if that lets GAC with half of the players, so be it. At least we will be playing for the ranks. Right now is not so much different. You face people that makes a simple hit or doesnt show up at all. Or people who starts climbing after a season or two with inactivity .

Yes. The formula goes into "solving those issues"
But the same formula creates them because its dynamic. If a large group of big whales decides no to play GAC for a couple of seasons, their skill level will decrease and as a result, they will face lower rosters to compensate that.

I believe a certain league position based on number of GLs, certain progress in your Journey Guide, I dont know. Dont have the answer. Just saying GAC is now a formality to distribute crystals according to your roster progress.

Oh. And regarding having pve as binded to your roster progress, I get it. And I think we can all agree on the fact that pve and pvp have some fundamental differences.

Yes. Pve needs planning and skills too. Nobody is arguing that. But in the pvp current system, it doesnt matter how good you are, youll end up facing a roster that you can simply not defeat.

Is like choosing normal dificulty on Conquest and ending up playing hard because you did well.
  • Skill in SWGOH = How you build your roster, employ your roster, and know the abilities of toons. There is no skill, as in faster button pressing, or quick twitch muscles etc.
