I've read about the crunch on these for years now, but have never had the problem myself. I can see where it comes from, though, the prototypes are pretty cheap if you pay crystals and pretty common if you pay guild bucks. Thing is, the salvage isn't that onerous to farm, either, and is made even easier because you can get it in challenges.

Chars from different release period have different bottle neck, and ppl will hit those bottlenecks when they tried gearing up many of those char in a short period for whatever reasons.
Meta comes and go, so do characters, some of them are not effective anymore/required somewhere so no pressure to gearing them quick, thats why you probably wont hit the bottleneck like the others did.

For example, you probably have too many mk5 furnance salvages, but at the old days when rancor raid just introduced, everyone are crying for those.

I only have 21 of the prototype right now, just spent 100 on getting Han to G12, but I do have 2469 of the salvage. Sooooooo yeah, I don't know.

I doubted it would ever become a bottleneck for years, and then all at once it hit me. I'm at a bit of a breathing spot between farms (just finished the reqs for JML) so I'm starting to accumulate more now, but you can easily burn through those golden eyeball pieces.

5.3m for reference, and my above gear levels for g11-g13.

Yes you can really run out of them. I do
But
1) if you play this game til the first day, you have 5000 more pieces than me. It should help
2) if you are ftp AND not top 5 both arena, you don’t have enough cristals to farm quick enough to run out of it.
3) if you re dumb enough to buy 5 piece for 25k brunzium, you deserve to run of it.
