Sneaky Nerf: Datacron Dismantle Value reduced by factor 2.7
CG rolled out the update already showing us the dismantle value of chapter 2 DCs.
For a level 9 DC from Chapter 2 you'll get:
2M Datacache
10 MK3 level mats for chapter 3 and 4
25 MK2 level mats for chapter 3 and 4
50 MK1 level mats for chapter 3 and 4
Spreading Chapter 2 Dismantle to chapter 3 and 4 makes you lose half the tiny scrap value of chapter 2 already (whats the point of chapter 3 stuff when its expiring in a month?)
But even if you consider Chapter 3 stuff as valueable as Chapter 4, then we get less of the following:
per level 9 DC:
1. Datacaches: 500k
2. MK2 level mats: 90!
3. MK1 level mats: 250
Sure we were warned about the split, but not a value nerf. And that it happens without any notice is just sloppy. People will find out anyways.
Also making the Datacron experience even worse is the most stupid thing you could do.
There is literally nobody who enjoys the entire Datacron experience and just some who like aspects of it (including me).
I think nobody has the illusion that CGs main focus is making as much money as possible. But the entire Datacron concept does not even make sense from a financial standpoint. The big number of players who quit the game are across all ranges. Its not just the F2P who quit. The F2P are probably the least affected, because they are used to the abuse. A lot of heavy spenders from almost all top guilds have quit the game because of Datacrons.
And I don't think anybody really minded a slightly shifting meta every few months. The bad rollout and CG being dillusional about what Datacrons do.
Again: I don't want to just be negative - I like aspects of the game enough to help make things right. I am a theorycrafter with deep knowledge on the game.
If a Datacron concept would be of value for you that does not scare off half the player base and is still financially lucrative is something that would help you: Let me know. I'll do it for free.
It takes time to draft such a concept, so I won't just spend a lot of time on it, if it falls on deaf ears anyways.
