It wasn't needed but it's OK to do it anyway. It may seem unfair to some but it really isn't since it works both ways (both when you're promoted and when you're demoted) and you always receive the rewards your division and SR entitle you to.
The change is neither good nor bad. It's just slightly different."zatho;c-2352721" wrote:

Since people are complaining a lot about being mismatched against opponents with more GLs, maybe this change helps to sort the groups a lot quicklier, as you can drop or rise between divisions a lot faster now.
I don't see why it would, since matchmaking is exclusively based on skill rating, and nothing has changed about that"zatho;c-2352721" wrote:

Yes, people can drop a few days earlier but the change doesn't affect matchmaking one bit.
It does if certain people drop or climb more divisions in a shorter time. They will reach a group of their power faster. E.g. if they unlock a new GL and can make good use of it, they dont climb a division every third round but maybe every second round.
But...this doesn't change the speed at which you can climb or drop? Since nothing has changed re: skill rating you're still getting matched against the exact same players you would've been matched against under the previous rules where division changes only occurred at the very end of each month's GAC. You still end up in the exact same place overall, the only functional difference is that your daily crystal rewards can change in the midst of a GAC, not just at the end
Edit: I should clarify my first sentence. It does allow you to climb/drop one division higher/lower faster, but that in and of itself has no effect on matchmaking. So it wouldn't do anything about mismatches or help to sort groups quicker"zatho;c-2352743" wrote:

Nope! It doesn't change matchmaking at all. Whether you are relegated mid-GA or by the end of a GA you will end up with the same skill-rating.- M0st1yHarm1essNew Spectator

That rule is not self-evident. An argument could be made that rewards should be according to the latest performance, so adjusting divisions, and in turn rewards, after every round would be more fair compared to doing it only after each bracket. "Lumiya;c-2352847" wrote:

Yes, I got demoted and got less daily crystals
Idk if something is wrong then. Some people are reporting still getting higher rewards....
It's too hard to tell if people are reporting correctly or not, since nobody is posting screeshots for proof.
I got promoted and got more daily crystals. It makes sense. It's in the system for you to get what is assorted to your division. If they would continue to give you the amount from before, they would have to implement a lot of new cases for exceptions from that.
I will make a screenshot when I get my new dailies. Last but not least, eventhough I now get more, I don't think it's fair that people get different rewards if they are matched against each other. If they start in the same bracket, are set against each other, they also should get the same rewards. And yes, I would accept to get less in my case. A fair, equal reward for all please.
The part about getting same as others in your bracket doesn't bother me one bit. I don't see how it's at all relevant.
But I do think it should be consistent, either way, so it would be nice to see some evidence to ensure it's working correctly.
I think it's relevant because it means, in addition to the daily crystals, it is very likely that you will also get the win/loss amount of your new division. So if someone got relegated they not only get less daily crystals but also less crystals even if they win. But this part is only speculation for now, we will have the answer to that in roughly 21 hours. I'll take a screenshot from that aswell. ?
Let's address problems AFTER we know they exist.
We know that people get the daily rewards from the divisions they have been promoted/demoted to... that's already enough to say it's not fair. Follow up of GAC rewards later
This was the part I didn't have an issue with. Sometimes you'll move up, sometimes down. It evens out. As long as it's consistent, it's fine.
Just because you don't have an issue with it doesn't mean that others don't/ can't have an issue with it.
Just because you have an issue with it doesn't mean it's an issue. We each just present our opinions and arguments.
Why is it such an issue for you? Over time it more or less evens out with regards to rewards.
I already wrote why I think it's unfair. And again, I was even one that "profited" from the change because I got promoted, yet I understand how those must feel whom have been relegated. Empathy and fairness are a thing and that's why I take an issue with this.

If you win a round you receive different rewards than the ones who lose - even though you're in the same bracket. It was always like that. If you get promoted/demoted you're also moving to a new bracket (not a new bracket of 8 but a new division). Of course a winner gets a different reward than someone who loses, but if someone loses their first fight, gets relegated and then wins the second, they get less for their win in the same bracket.
Of course the squish has repercussions into the first 3 rounds of the new season, as pointed out in many posts and many have now experienced, if you don't see the connection, not my problem.

You seem to be stuck on the fact that the 8 people in a bracket are somehow "connected" and therefor deserving of the same rewards. Why should performance not change what rewards they're eligible for? How long are they supposed to be "locked" into identical rewards? Forever? Obviously not, by why even for a week? It's an absolutely arbitrary amount of time, even though they're in a bracket.
There could literally be 100s of people at the exact same SR, and it's completely random (as far as we know, or for as far as it matters) who could have been matched. Why are these 8 specifically any more connected and thus required to receive same rewards?- winterwolvesRising Scout

You guys (developers) are inept. I got demoted from K2 to K3. Now if I am able to win a round I get K3 rewards and not K2 rewards, but I don't get to go against K3 level players and increase my chance of winning. Absolutely inept.
Maybe go back and re-read the announcement again, once the red mist fades? It says "These changes will not affect the opponents that the player is facing in the current event"
How have they got it wrong? They were in K2, got demoted to K3 after 1 game of the Grand Arena. They're now in K3 getting K3 rewards but have 2 more matches vs K2 opponents. Seems to me it's exactly how fluffy stated it is.
Show me where he's getting k3 rewards
The daily crystals will be the k3 amount
That's not how it's been working. Are you just assuming or do you have personal experience this round?
Since when is it a good idea to have people start at the same point, set them against each other but give them different rewards while they are still together in one bracket? If you have 1 bracket of 3 rounds and have those people compete against each other, their rewards should be equal.
If you win a round you receive different rewards than the ones who lose - even though you're in the same bracket. It was always like that. If you get promoted/demoted you're also moving to a new bracket (not a new bracket of 8 but a new division). I don't see anything wrong in rewarding you with the same rewards as others in your new bracket (division)."Lumiya;c-2352672" wrote:
Otherwise get rid of the brackets and set people 1 on 1, always according to their actual SR and division, then you can give them the rewards according to their division and noone feels disatvantaged.
OH! Those feelings...."Lumiya;c-2352672" wrote:
This argument that things even out glosses over the fact that again the total amount of crystals that go out to the players get controlled more and are actually less. There have been players that won their first round but because of the squish still had not enough SR points for their division so they still got demoted... eventhough they won! They got less crystals! Do you really think that's fair? Is that "earned"? If you go by earned then they would have earned the same or more crystals for a win, not less!
Demotions because of the squish and this new relegation mid-GA are two different things.
If two people in the same bracket win a round they should get the same rewards. Are you being like this on purpose? Of course a winner gets a different reward than someone who loses, but if someone loses their first fight, gets relegated and then wins the second, they get less for their win in the same bracket.
Of course the squish has repercussions into the first 3 rounds of the new season, as pointed out in many posts and many have now experienced, if you don't see the connection, not my problem.
Yeah those feelings. Imagine people being human and having feelings, the horror. Seriously, there is no need to talk to someone like you. I enjoy having a discussion and hearing different points of view as long as it is civil and considerate. Someone who waves away other people's feelings, things that should make us human (maybe not everyone) will never take the time or make the effort to see the other side for a moment and think about what has been said. You think you are right, people with different views are wrong... and I am not here to change your mind. I don't want or need you to share my view.
I want those that actually have to do with the game, like devs or CMs to know, not everyone likes what they did. As simple as that.
Ok. The round of 8 starts. Everyone is on the same SR, but it is close to the lower boundary.
4 win, 4 lose. The 4 winners maintain division. The 4 losers all lost the exact same skill points and all got dropped a division.
The 4 winners play off all for the same rewards. 2 win and SR goes up, 2 lose and the SR goes down. Likely still in the division they started in, as SR change appears to drop by a point each round. These 2 win-loss players have about the skill rating they started with.
The 4 losers play off, all for the same rewards as each other. 2 win and become our loss-win players. Except for a very few edge cases (and when the squish has just happened) they will be back in the original division, as they will have just about the skill rating they started with. The 2 loss-loss players drop further in skill rating, staying in the lower division.
Now the 2 win-win players are fighting for the same rewards.
The 2 win-loss players and the 2 loss-win players are in a pool where they don't play the same person again, but could be against someone with a point or 2 in difference of SR. There may be a few edge cases where these 2 points mark a division change, but in over 95% of cases all these 4 players are getting the same rewards.
The loss-loss players are fighting for lower rewards, but the same as each other.
It will hardly ever happen that in the one match, one player's win would get them more than the other player's win (If that even matters at all).
Seems fair enough to me.
