Three genuine suggestions

First, save gear and other upgrade materials for future events, preferably enough to g12 two squads. Yes, there are many good, even very good characters that might have shorter expiry dates, and there are always better alternatives, more worthy of the upgrade materials, more useful and expect to last longer, e.g. CLS.

Second, for new events at very difficult level, e.g. epic events, best not to jump in as soon as the event starts and gear up the required characters. Generally, it will be more time efficient and cost effective if you could first watch the videos and follow the suggestions posted by those early birds. So can you save upgrade materials because not every character required is worth maxing out. Plus you might waste precious materials on bad choices when there are more required to choose from.

Last but not least, like “Ready, Player One” trying to tell us: gaming is fun but real life is where we can find real fulfilment and happiness :)

CLS basically requires 2 or 3 additional legendary/journey characters to actually be useful in a lot of todays events. Yes he is a strong character and worth a G13 because of his actual viability and regen abilities, but he isn't as useful as you think without the others. My CLS is g8/g9 and I'm referring to the squad not just individually. I know LS Geo will be "enlightening" to see how much viability he has in phase 3 and 4, but I don't think there's any real....... use beyond GA for this guy anymore. Even in TW, you need a few maxed out characters that require a lot to get.

Yes, epic events require a lot of work, time, GP to prepare for. I would argue that the point of the game isn't to rely on spending money but to actually learn the kits and develop some skill to complete the events. There is often a lot left unsaid from the directions for events and that's where the YT community as well as other sources comes in handy.... However, I'd encourage people to actually develop their skills and try, before spending money or going elsewhere. Heck, ask your guild for help, that's the entire point of playing the game with 49 others.
