Not necessarily. Commander Luke is, like every legendary, exceedingly farmable. With more lead time, everyone would have him. Everyone. That's not good either.

There may be a better option, but I'm not seeing it. And I'd vastly prefer this method to the marquee events.

People are expecting to get legendary toons at 7* even if they started playing this game a few months ago. For some even, if they would've announced the requirements for Luke a month ago, it wouldn't be enough to get St Han and Leia to 7* as they are in the same shop... should the debs announce requirements a year in advance?

Legit question, though, how long have you been playing?

I think the frustration comes from folks like me who started early, but just missed the dodge meta so we never had any incentive to farm Old Ben. I'll very probably be able to get R2 up to 7*, but I've got 316 shards needed for Ben. We've been given about 3 weeks to prepare, so there's time and I might be able to get it done.

Friends of mine who started a couple months back, sure, they won't do it and they're fine with it because they're not even 80 yet. But when you've played 18 months and you're likely to be locked out? Of course you're going to be a little miffed.

What advantage? You might have a temporary one, but it never ever lasts. If you've got the money to spend on this stuff, awesome. Too bad you don't have the wisdom to go with it. At least invest in a game that gives you the possibility of a return like poker or something.

It's not good for the game if only the whales get a particular powerful character. Nor is it good if every player gets that same character. In a game like this, healthy competition is the key to long-term success. Almost everyone should have people just below and just above them in power, to simultaneously and effectively spur them to better their squads.
The way CG engenders this stratification is by dropping hints early and then formally announcing things last-minute. The people with their ears to the ground will hear the hints and plan accordingly, giving them a leg up on those who can't be bothered.
People just need to decide which group they want to be a part of. I would hope that most of the people who actively post in these forums would want to be in the group of planners.

Its more disappointing for those like me that have all the other chars needed for CLS except just 1. I started at Feb 2016 so was not competitive during the dodge meta. It would have been better to have a pool of 6-7 required characters for this but anyway it is what it is.

Great. You're not the one I was addressing. I was talking to someone who was bitter. Your argument here is not "TO HAVE AN ADVANTAGE" in all caps, which probably broke some keys or cracked the glass if it was on a phone.

If you spend a ton of money on a game and get unconditional enjoyment from it, I can't find fault in that. When it's all over, though, what do you have? How far does King Of My Shard in March 2017 get you in life?
