I know it's CG, but just to throw this out there...
What if they are rebalancing the real money cost of gearing characters? Early on in this game it cost about $100 to max gear a character. Now I don't even know the cost, but it's way up there. $500? More? don't even know, but if you are buying the gear from scratch it's insane. The cost for a full stun gun is still $20, even though the value of a single stun gun has dropped tremendously.
I could MAYBE see CG doing something like increasing the amount of crystals we get for real cash and then increasing the amount of crystals it costs for character shards (to keep that cost the same). Maybe even increasing the effective crystal cost of relics since that is end game. Effectively making the cost of gearing characters to G13 significantly cheaper. This character shard cost increase would also make it tougher for F2P hoarders to save crystals to 7 star characters for legendary events.
I was thinking a similar plan is in the works.
but more on the back end.
If they adjust the amount of gear we are getting, then on the back end they will adjust either the number of crystals you get per $ or also increase the amount of gear you get when buying it. It would be very odd to make gearing a toon take 1/3 (as an example) the time, but still cost the same $$ as it did before.
but i fully expect this to happen after any gear adjustments, not necessarily as part of them.

also, check out what can be turned into relic mats. the first 2 tiers have stun guns, cuffs, and caribanti. They could essentially flood the market on those, erasing most of the pre g13 gear crunch, and still do almost nothing towards the "end game" gear crunch. I will assume this is no accident.
