Its better...the character I'm unlocking is actually useful with the faction unlocking it...unlike BB8 or R2, and the character I'm unlocking isn't already obsolete, like Yoda.

Not putting any crystals into it its 5 attempts a day, at roughly a 30% shard drop rate...thats 1.5 shards per day. That is 220 days for 330 shards to 7 star a toon...or about 8 months...plus the several months it takes a f2p player to even level up high enough to unlock tier 9 nodes...how is that exaggerated? Are you pulling 80% on shards because you are just that awesome or something?
Up until a month or so ago when hard nodes were 3x per day, you a new player was looking at a 330 day farm with a 30% drop rate with no refreshes not starting til after the time it took to get high enough to unlock those nodes...which pretty much meant more than a year from level 1 start to finish.
Point is ludicrous farms were already in this game and have been for a while...they just weren't noticed by older players as much when you met the pre-reqs to start the farm from day 1. MT doesn't work like that and now people are raging. Get over it...new players have been dealing with this for a while now.

Are you forgetting you'll eventually be getting zetas from this event? I'd consider increased rate of zeta accumulation a far greater benefit than a useless G8 squad you farmed up for one event and now never gets used except for TB deployment, which is the only real reason to care about total GP. I've got people in my guild that have 300k+ more total GP than me whom I score higher than in TB...running up the GP on the wrong toons doesn't do a whole lot for you.
Besides...nothing is saying you have to do MT/NS right now. You could do Ewoks...best of both worlds...more GP for TB, you can actually use them for combat missions, and they'll help you get more zetas eventually.

Wait...you just said you get no other benefits for paying straight crystals to get these toons faster...now your saying spending those crystals gives you the advantage of "a boatload of zetas." Only way its possible is if you are getting some decent crystal income from arenas to fuel refreshes...in which case you are already set up to cut the MT farm way down as a f2p if you want...I don't see what the issue is. Buy some packs and refresh event when it becomes regular and the "2 year" farm people are complaining about becomes much less than a year easily.
