Thousands of free energy points thrown away. You also lose many free attempts to get shards and gear pieces. So you get no progression in the game for weeks while others are gearing/leveling up and prepping to gear/level up characters.
It's not the strategy I'd choose either, but there may be some benefit to suddenly hitting level 70 right after the game change is made. Assuming he's got the droids and credits he can instantly have his primary team ten levels over the rest of us. If he's got the ability mats for the corresponding skills, and the gear ready to go then it could make a real difference. No knowing till then I guess.
