JKA immediate refunds
I mean I have solely been gearing up my Anakin to use against the ocean of malaks in my shard, CG_Erik gave us the thumbs up (specifically referencing JKA's utility in a JKR lead team) and now you guy...

Some of the changes we are considering would make him synergize more specifically inside a Galactic Republic squad (as many players have suggested). Either way, we’ll continue to monitor these battles and reveal any changes prior to making them."
Have you read this sequence by any chance? Or you saw only what you wanted to see and ignored the rest?
I expected Anakin to get additional / better synergy with the GR faction when I read this announcement. And since it was clear that he would be getting a zeta, it wasn't unreasonable to assume that his zeta ability would add this synergy without altering his performance under JKR (which, after all, was completely in line with etc. pp. according to the earlier paragraph).
I see now after the fact that it can be read differently, but I don't think (m)any players read the announcement that way. We were too relieved about the paragraph that Ninjah quoted to read the above part as anything other than "we'll strengthen his synergy with Padme in addition to his current kit".
I even understand why CG thought the bonus damage of his unique needed to be restricted to the GR faction after someone had the unironically brilliant idea to pair JKA with NS Zombie. But the way they're going about this change is terrible. Instead of changing the bonus damage part to "If the ally in question was Galactic Republic", they made it impossible to plug a toon like Thrawn or Nest into a GR squad without crippling Anakin.
I find it really difficult to work up any excitement about Padme and the entire GR faction in the light of this unnecessary restrictiveness. All things considered, both JKA's and Ahsoka's final version will be less useful and versatile than before unless we (a) use them together on a GR squad, (b) cripple our JKR team in GA and TW by removing GK so he can boost Ahsoka's damage, (c) invest heavily in GG + droids and undertake the arduous task of unlocking Padme, (d) go through the equally arduous process of gearing her, and (e) accept the fact that we can never use a plug'n'play toon with this faction. I think I'd rather not bother with Padme, leave my GK with JKR, and write off Anakin and Ahsoka as "rather useless outside of fleet" (even more so than before).
Exactly. Not only are the nerfing JKA, they are, ironically, "pre-nerfing" the entire faction by making them fairly useless apart and not allowing other non-faction characters to work well in the team. At the same time, they are also greatly restricting player creativity, strategy and innovation.
If CG just wants to play the game for us, by prescribing play and eliminating player creativity, and simply wants to sell us the newest meta "rock" every month, this game is going to unravel quickly.
Im not saying it’s necessarily good or bad, but it’s kind of the opposite of how the game was originally designed. Early on they talked about wanting us to use teams that weren’t possible anywhere else.
I would assume the change is at least in part to the extreme power creep. These new characters are so powerful and complicated that you have to restrict who they work with, otherwise you open up endless possibilities that are difficult to test against. By controlling the possible combinations they increase the odds of getting the exact power result they want.
