Old Ben's Zeta Taunt should last 1 turn through Fracture.

Thrawn’s Fracture does these things to the opponent, in this order:
1. Deal special damage four times.
2. Dispel all buffs.
3. Remove 50% turn meter.
4. Inflict Fracture (can’t gain buffs).
With the Devoted Protector zeta, Obi-Wan’s taunt is regained immediately after it expires. That happens after step two in Thrawn’s Fracture. The taunt is reapplied before steps three and four. He has already regained it before the step where Thrawn prevents new buffs.
Since Fracture avoids buffs from getting applied to the character, Taunt should not be. Even if this is WAI, they should consider it a bug for consistency's sake. Or update Thrawn's description "Inflict Fracture (most of the times can’t gain buffs)".
There are many instances of these subtle mechanics changes that make characters unique or a certain character more effective.
This adds to the team strategy and helps make characters less cookie cutter.
It 100% does stop buffs, that are applied after it. In this instance the taunt is applied after the dispell which happens before the fracture.
They changed daze to happen before damage, they have some characters that do TRM before damage and some that do it after. It all adds to the strategy that a player can use. It's a good thing IMO.- Ben's Zeta was designed to counter Thrawn. Just accept it and work around it.

Not everyone was a member of this forum months ago.
I realize it's the nature of the beast, but the forums of late have had a lot of a groundhog's day vibe going on.
Yeah then we find old threads by searching and then if we post on them we get hounded for necroing. Catch 22 right there. Why does more than 1 thread of something bother people so much? Truly a first world problem.
This right here.
Most forums I'm on prefer necro to new threads and new threads get merged into the old thread. However, in this forum's case, the opposite is true, so the right thing to do is what the mods expect.- The reasoning is simple. Thrawn's fracture move dispells all buffs, and then inflicts Fracture, which blocks additional buffs. But Old Ben's zeta gains taunt for one turn immediately after a dispell. So the dispell happens, and then the re-taunt, and then the Fracture.
The language is not contradictory, but the devs have confirmed this is WAI. And why shouldn't it be possible? Every ability has a counter of some sort or another. All the more important for super-powered abilities like Fracture to have at least one weak spot. "Darth_Amarth;c-1350331" wrote:

Read carefully. He isn’t Fractured until step four, but the new buff is already active by then. Here’s what happens to taunting Ben:
1. Ben receives special damage four times. All of his buffs, including taunt, are present.
2. All of Ben’s buffs, including taunt, are removed. IMPORTANT: Taunt is reapplied instantly and is present again going into steps three and four.
3. Ben loses 50% turn meter.
4. Ben is Fractured, and as of this moment, cannot gain any new buffs in addition to the taunt that is already present.
Thrawn dispels his taunt before inflicting Fracture in step four. The application of Fracture in step four does not include a second dispel to clear any new buffs that automatically appeared after step two.
The dispel in step two doesn’t prevent new buffs from appearing. The Fracture in step four doesn’t dispel existing buffs. Ben’s zeta very carefully works around these two rules. That’s what it was designed to do."TVF;c-1350486" wrote:

I may be wrong but I think the complaint about this thread is that the question has been asked, discussed, and answered previously so there should be no need for a new or necro thread. Just a simple forum search.
Personally, I don't care much either way so please don't attack the messenger (translator?). :)"dad2my3;c-1350526" wrote:
