- Rex isn't OP. TM is king. Lots of squad have TM manipulation. It's why Thrawn does so well. Resistance, Empire, even Ewoks are decent with the TM gain.
That's why squads like rebels can't catch up. Not enough TM manipulation. It's why only certain rebels are good such as Wedge, Biggs, Chirrut, Baze, STHan. TM will always run this game. "AlexTheG;c-1195139" wrote:
As for Rex being OP I never commented to that effect or intended to insinuate it. I was wondering why - given that he had been around for a good while - he still remains the outstanding squad leader given others have come and gone in far less time.
I know you didn't call him OP. Was adding that in there because others have. And my whole point is that he's not the outstanding squad leader. He's the fallback if you don't have an outstanding squad leader."AlexTheG;c-1195139" wrote:
Question though. Why should a Rex-like leader be so effective in terms of knitting together so many disparate characters and factions? Again what is so particularly original about a dog's dinner of a squad that works purely because of a Rex leadership? Or is that your idea of thinking outside of the box?
And another point of my post was that the team does not "work purely because of a Rex leadership". It's just that, there's no other obvious leader, so Rex provides some benefit to the team, helps a little to make up for shortcomings. I ran the typical triple cleanse, minus Rex, plus Thrawn, with a GK lead and that also worked great. Rex is not what makes or breaks the team."ExarTheKun;c-1195146" wrote:

Guess you haven't played against a Wiggs, R2, Fulcrum, GK team yet. :S- "Rex lead. Will it ever end?"
http://s1.thingpic.com/images/nb/PUSCYKU1mfpJYiZG6B9WDF1R.jpeg - @Dretzle. So out of interest, who do you think is the outstanding leader(s) is / are? If any?
I just checked my arena shard. Out of the top 50, 26 are a Rex lead. Admittedly I would previously assumed the usage was greater. Thrawn seems to have mixed things up a bit. - http://i.imgur.com/OWZMTnE.png

I'll let you decide.
Like I said, just because people on your shard either haven't or don't want to build a team around another leader, doesn't mean there aren't other viable leaders out there. - Interesting! Thanks for posting!

Be the change you want to see in the world.
....
Cause I won't be. I invested too much in my clones. :D- I'm very surprised Maul is at #1. I thought the triple cleanse teams would just shrug off his crits, laugh and then beat the hell out of him with all the TM gain. Or just use R2 to mess his leadership up.

We've entered into an interesting time period in the arena that is much more rock paper scissors than it used to be. I could stick R2 in my team and Zaul would have a much harder time with it, but that Thrawn or Zader lead would laugh at me.
Keep in mind payout times are different. The Russians (most of those Zaul leads) have a much earlier payout time than those in US, and we wait to waste our battles for when it counts, closer to our payout hour, so we're not trying to snipe anyone out of #1. Well, most of us, anyways.
And there's actually very few classic triple cleanse teams left in my shard. They are too easy to beat. Most that are close to that are double cleanse with Thrawn. About the TM gain, you seem to forget that sith gain 20% TM every time they go stealth, and Sith Assassin speeds them up even more. Yes, many teams can withstand the sith initial barrage and win in the long run when Zaul is on defense, but Zaul teams get a big head start and, if they focus, can still manage to overcome most teams."Dretzle;c-1195155" wrote:

I have played against every possible mashup of arena viable toons. I just happen to crush them without them ever getting a turn ;)
