Cannot link game account and ea account

Whenever I try to connect my game account and the ea account (to use the webstore and crossplay to the pc client), I get the error in the attached picture. Is there a workaround for this?

For some context I disconnected the previous ea account that was linked as I wanted to connect the game account to a new one, but when I tried to connect it agian I just get the error. It's been like this for a day now so I doubt it'll sort itself out over time. Both the game account and the ea account are linked with my apple id, but that doesn't work to link the game account and the ea account. I'm playing on an iphone 13, latest version update that rolled out yesterday.
