Error Code 9.0 when trying to upgrade a character

Question

Every time I try to upgrade Fennec Shand to relic level 5, I get Error Code 9.0 and I'm forced to restart.

I've tried restarting wi-fi, turning off wi-fi, and reinstalling the game. The issue persists. I can make any other upgrades on any other characters (with and without wi-fi), so my connection is not the problem.

Now I'm prevented from getting Fennec to relic 5. Please help.

I think I might have figured it out. My Fennec Shand is only 6 stars, but 7 stars is required for relic 5. This only occurred to me after reading the most recent update notes. Hopefully the update Monday will make it so players won't have the option to upgrade where it's not allowed.
