Sims 1 Legacy Crashing

Just bought the birthday bundle to get both the original Sims and Sims 2. I started playing the original Sims and only got maybe an hour in before the game crashed. Booted it up again and had the same issue. My computer is on Windows 11. The first time it crashed while I was creating a family. The second time was while I was in buy mode.

Have you looked for the compnent asset files that are failing?

Ah I'm sorry about that :c Hopefully EA will be able to fix this issue since I know a lot of players are experiencing it. Still a shame.

My Sims legacy collection crashes after 1 hour of play and immediately crashes if I go to community lots. It's getting really frustrating to play. I purchased the bundle for The Sims and The Sims 2.

  • KeoRain  Please try updating your graphics driver.  Yours is from 2023, which could be fine in theory, but one of the crashes in your dxdiag points to the driver as the culprit.  You can get the newest one here:

    https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/193563/intel-core-i78665u-processor-8m-cache-up-to-4-80-ghz/downloads.html

Run the installer as an admin: right-click the download and select "Run as administrator."  Restart your computer after installing and before trying to play.

If you get an error when trying to install the driver, that's likely just HP software blocking any driver not provided by HP.  The driver IS compatible, and there's a way to get around the error.  Let me know if you need help with that, and I'll write out the process.

  • hellokittyfan29  Are you playing Sims 1 or 2?  I ask because your dxdiag lists a couple of Sims 2 crashes but nothing from Sims 1.

If you are playing Sims 1, please go here:

    C:\Users\your username\Saved Games\Electronic Arts

and move the "The Sims 25" folder to the desktop.  This will reset all your in-game progress, but you can try restoring some data later.  For now, just see whether the game runs without crashing.

  • Hi, I'm also experiencing random crashing, even after the third patch. The third patch did improve some crashing issues I experienced when Downtown, but now it just seems to crash randomly while my Sim is at home. Dxdiag is attached.
