sim voice audio extremely low quality

i implied such in the original post, but i want to clarify this is specifically about the sims 2 legacy collection that released today (january 31st 2025) as part of the sims' 25th anniversary. this issue is not present in the ultimate collection

I'm experiencing this as well, I have changed stereo type and played with volume settings and it has not fixed the issue.

super sorry for the wait, i've been struggling to get the game to open (my fault, i tried to put in a lot of cc i used to use). i've attached two videos below, listen closely and you should be able to tell what i mean. the voices have a robotic hiss to them that's especially noticeable when they're saying something that has an S sound or a SH sound in it. i'm videoing elder sims here but it does happen with other ages as well (i tested it with don lothario and dina caliente in pleasantview not long before i made this thread)

I'm having the same issue with the Sims 2 re-release. Sims in my game tend to have a low-quality "crunchy" sound to their voices and it's very distracting. Sometimes it's not as noticeable depending on the Sim, what they're saying and what other sounds are also playing, but most of the time they just don't sound right.

I, too, am having the same issue in The Sims 2 Legacy Collection. I just came from playing the old version yesterday and could hear the difference like night and day when sims talk or make any noise themselves in the new version. The sim voices sound like they have too much audio 'gain' no matter the volume which distorts the voice.
